When it rains, it pours Levers

There I was, minding my own business with a little extra cash from selling a pistol.  What happens next....my hunting buddy mentions that he's selling one of his Puma 92's and wants me to list it on GunBroker for him.  So....a beautiful Puma 92 Short Rifle in 45Colt ends up coming home with me.  "Take it and go shooting, if you like it, it's your's for what I've got in it.  If not, put it on GunBroker and sell it for me".  Looks like I'll be visiting to the range soon.  Then, I swing by a local shop on the way home today and notice a like new Marlin 1895CB sitting on the rack with a Marbles Tang sight already installed.  Price....very, very fair and the rifle looks like new.  I'm guessing it's another one of those "it kicks too much" trade-back deals.  I already have a Ruger #1 in 45-70 from one of those deals.  So, in a couple days time, looks like that new concealed carry pistol is going to have to wait while I figure out how to stuff two new Lever-actions into the safe.

jakes10 - I find that if I stack them in the safe with one stacked over the other, rather than in the cutouts designed for them, that the wife never even notices; but, ya gotta get them inna house and into the safe before she comes home and you absolutely must get any gun grease smell off your hands and clothes and never, ever, ever greet her with a guilty smile when she comes home.  Works for me alla time...  Mikey.

I have found that if you stand every other one on the muzzle (on a padded bottom of course) that you can almost double the capacity of any gun safe.
Like my custom built 72 gun walk in with 143 in it counting the 9 hanging on the doors along with the other 4 smaller safes and you get the picture. One of the safes has been dedicated strictly to Handi rifles and all the extra barrels.
God forbid that I ever have to move!

MIKEY is right on about having to get them past the wife.
Mine don't even ask anymore, she just smiles.
I guess I will find out what that means one of these days,

Spent exactly 14 minutes at the range today.  Wife was out, so I stacked the three youngins and two dogs in the Suburban and headed down to the Isaac Walton League property.  While the backup band waited in the truck, I popped off 16 of my 45 Colt hunting rounds at a quick 25 yard range.  Moved through them rather quickly, but kept all but 5 within the 9-ring.  Also had to test a new trigger job on my S&W M&P pistol.  Both tests were great.

Now I don't own or buy as many as some of y'all but then again I don't sneak 'em in.  I just save my pennies and dollars.  She gives me all her loose change too.  I just buy one or two for general purposes (gotta keep the gunmakers in bidness) a year.  She always knows what I'm getting.  She don't necessarily understand it since she knows that I have more than enough for whatever I plan to hunt.  She would rather me buy guns than drink, smoke, go to the bar, or gamble.  Can't say I blame her.  At least guns are useful... JD, Camels and other women just cause problems.  We have four young'uns.  I fully intend to leave enough guns for each of them to have a small battery when I'm gone.  I'm pretty set on each having a good .22, a varmint rifle, a deer rifle, a hand gun or two and a good shotgun.  Gotta spend more money but I'm getting there.  Thank goodness guns tend to last a long time.
I've got a few more to buy and then I'm gonna get me a whole collection of levers...  Only have three now so obviously I've neglected that part of the collection.  I could use about 8-10 more... a .357, .44, .45, another .30-30 (or two).  I got a .30-30 and two .45-70's now.  Definitely need a couple .22's.  My dad's Browning lever .22 is the best .22 for me to shoot that I've ever had my hands on.  For some reason it just hits what I aim it at.  Need more like it.

Whats up with that?  I know what you are talking about.  I have an old Remington bolt .22 that is not that exceptional on paper, but when hunting never seems to miss.  And I need all the help that I can get on the little critters.

Walked into the gun shop with the Marlin 45-70 on Tuesday after work, their first open day for the week.  I was beat to the punch.  Another customer who'd been eyeballing the 45-70 bought it earlier in the day.  I would have had a hard time resisting the Marlin, so I'm glad it actually sold.  The Puma 92 will serve my purposes well.  Guess I need to use the savings to pick up a USFA Rodeo in 45 Colt so I can look like a cowboy when I hunt.

Yer gonna like it.  I now have 3 of the Pumas, 454, 357 and 44 mag.  454 is the smoothest and my favorite right now.  Need to smooth up the 357, it's an Oct. barrel, long and heavy but shoots well.  The 44 has been around the longest and has taken several mule deer.  DP

On the subject of wives, don't trust that smile.  They're up to something.  Mine always is.  She keeps smiling when I drag another one in.  She shoots most of them with me too.  Now the bad part, when you find one that is completely sweet to shoot she thinks so too and confiscates it for her own.

I sweat over which configuration, the right handloads, sight settings, etc. then she moves in on the best ones.  She says she is worth it.  I suppose so.  There isn't a part of a deer, pheasant, or chukar she can't cook to perfection.
