model 7 predator
« on: October 04, 2008, 06:28:16 AM »
I recently discovered this rifle on remingtons website and really liked what i saw. i have never really been interested in a model seven before but this one struck a cord.

I am interested in one in .243, and would like to know what i can expect as far as accuracy and quality from this rifle. if anyone has one or has had experience with one, any info would really help.

it looks like it has all the features of a regular model 700, the hinged floor plate, and the X-mark pro trigger, along with a 22" fluted barrel. i think this would make a great packing around, quick aquisation rifle.

please tell me what you know

thanks

I've got a couple of them. My first was in .17 Fireball and the second is a .204 Ruger. I've not shot the .204 or for that matter even taken it out of the box yet. I will in time for the PD shoot next June tho. The .17 Fireball is super accurate. The only thing I did was adjust the trigger pull and scope it. Using factory ammo (I've not started loading for it yet as my dies took some time to arrive) it easily stays under 1/2" at 100 yards and any PD inside 300 yards is dead when this thing goes bang.

The place I bought it has a pair in .243 and .22-250 in stock but neither did much for me so I bought the other two choices it comes in. If they'd make it in either .260 Remington or 7-08 I'd likely buy a third.

The Model seven predator in 243. Is One of the Nicest Rifles I have owned.  I started out wanting a Model 7 CDL in 308. Somehow I ended up with a predator in 243. Win.  I put a VX-I 4-12x40 In Leupold rings and mounts.  With factory Rem 80GR. Sp's , @ 100 yards 3/4" Groups are very commen. It shoots Winchester 100gr Sp Into 1" to 1 1/4" Groups @ 100.  Can't wait to hand load for it.
The model seven handles Great, its very Light and The finish is great.  The trigger could be a little lighter, But breaks nice and crisp.  The finish is aw-some.
I wish they made it in 308.

In a way they kinda sorta do. It's called the XCR Camo and other than camo pattern and a 20" barrel it really is the same gun. The one you want is their item #86052.
