snare making
« on: October 05, 2008, 03:02:02 PM »
Trying my hand at snare building. I bought 1x19x1/16 last year and seemed to be a nice round loop. I just bought 1x19x1/16 cable and supplies and my snares seem to be teardrop shaped. Also is it ok to put the ferrules on by mashing with a hammer?

To get rid of the tear dropped shape, you must load your snare.
I have used a hammer for years, to put on --deer stops, stops and ferrules.
I use a hammer when using ferrules or stops, on all the cable products I make.

Ok Tom, what exactly does load mean? I did read about pulling the cable around something, such as a rod in a vice but not sure how hard. Thanks;  Jim

No problem. They will slid faster after loading also.
