I give up
« on: October 06, 2008, 05:10:53 AM »
The last three times I've tried to post it just evaporated. Guess I'm not radical enough for this forum.

I've had a few just disappear as well.  It's hard to try and recollect my train of thought from earlier.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I always highlight my entire post and right click copy.  Then if it gets "lost" all I have to do is go into a new post and right click and paste.  Saves a lot of typing.  It only takes a sec so it doesn't hurt to do it always.  Just a tip.

PM. All you need to do is right click. Then click on select all. The text will then highlight. Right click again and seclect copy. If you lose your post then all you would need to do is right click again and select paste and it will reprint what you have coppied. Dale

Since I'm guilty of losing some myself I hate to admit it but really losing a post in that manner is just a result of a tempory dump action on the part of the poster. Yeah even on my part when I lost them.

If you are making a really long post at times not often but at times it will bring up a screen to tell you your session timed out. Why I got no clue and most times it won't but it can. On any and all long posts copy that sucker before hitting POST.

If you are replying to an active thread and someone makes a post while you are typing it will bring up a page that tells you someone posted while you were typing. Heck it does it even before you begin to type at times if the thread is really active. If you ignore it you'll lose your post every time but that's no one's fault but your own. Take the time to look over the page that comes up to see if your post was accepted or not and if not you haven't lost it YET. If you get that message about someone else posting just hit POST again and yours will take, well unless again someone has posted ahead of you in which case you'll have to do it still again. Just the way the software works. I don't like it any more than you and yeah I still get careless and in a rush and lose one from time to time.

If your session timed out normally you can hit the browswer back button and return to it and make the post. If you do then by all means copy that sucker first then hit Post but on all long ones do that.

Spell check is supposed to be off but if turned on you'll lose posts to smiles for sure we've been telling you that since we added spell check.

Heck, my attention span is too short to type a long post. I would forget what I was replying to. I never use spell check as anyone who reads my posts can tell. Guess I keep getting caught by someone posting at the same time. Thanks for the explanations.

There used to be a way to turn spell check on and off. That is not the case with the new software that was installed some months back. Just for the record since the new software has been installed I have not lost a post due to smile's and other such faces. Dale

This really does work...I have not had to do it for a long time because because I chose FOREVER on the time to stay logged on.

This is BAD Info.... The Spell check that GB is talking about has been removed and never again will it be a problem. The spell check that shows as a button next to post and preview IS safe to use as it is the servers own spell check feature. Now does it work right 100% of the time... ::) ::)
