Coal shale works pretty good, better than dry dirt. It's oily and repels some water. If you get snow, not rain traps will fire through it.I'm just cherry picking locations, jusy setting the "hot spot's".I just had some pheasant hunters leave. They wanted Montana coyotes to take home and have tanned.Something to remember their hunt.I sold 7 skinned, fleshed, washed dried and stretched for $50.00 apiece.I left the whole lower jaw(piece of fur) and the paws on these.
One thing about coal shale is if it gets real wet or you make a catch then it gets wet you have a nasty mess. The blackest pale coyote you've ever seen.
My girlfriend arrives for 10 days tommorow. She will ride along with me.I'm going to try to talk her in to learning how to skin and flesh. She gets to pick out the coyotes she wants to have a comforter made.
I had an old male coyote this morning.I checked a short line on the way home from work. When i peeled him he had old porcupine quills around his muzzle.
