OK guys i went to the range today i put a 24 in. 243 on my frame . shot it in then i put my 15 in. 209x50 barrel back on it . it was 1 in. to the left and about 1 1/2 high at 42 yds is this normal . Ive read about using a tork screw driver to tighten it the same each time.   i would never thought it would be off this much. is this just the way it is going to be till i buy a tork driver. if this is the norm 1 more gadget to buy i guess

1.  Are you using iron sights or a scope?
2.  What is it that you want to tighten with a "tork" driver?  Do you mean torque?

A firearm on different days with no change of scope or barrel can shoot to a different place.  This has to do with factors such as temperature, air density, etc.  I can't think of anything a torque driver would help.  Unless a scope is loose, I also can't think of anything a torx driver would help.  When you interchange Encore/Contender barrels, the iron sights and/or scope moves with the barrel and nothing changes.

Another factor to consider is that some scopes wander.  Your problem could be with the scope.

While I have never experienced it for the reasons stated by Grumulkin ("When you interchange Encore/Contender barrels, the iron sights and/or scope moves with the barrel and nothing changes.") some feel that using a torque wrench to tighten the forearm screws prevents POI changes.  One new Contnder owner on this board was so convinced this made a difference he trimmed the end off his forearm so he could remove the pin without ever changing the torque.  I swap barrels all the time, and have never had a problem with POI changing.  But all I have are Contenders and I can't speak for Encores.  You may want to try the o-rings on the forearm screws.  lifting the barrel a little off the forearm seems to help some folks.
