Swamp if you'd wake up some day and realize that you really are NOT the world's foremost authority on all subjects then folks might be able to take you a bit more seriously. Right now most of them consider you mostly to be a joke and that is why you are called stupid so often. If you'd stop posting dumb things folks might not think you dumb.

Ya know when the whole world constantly tells you that you are wrong sooner or later you need to take a good introspective look and see why it is that no one agrees with you. HINT: most of the time it's NOT cuz you're right and the rest of the world is wrong.

As I posted elsewhere, my post are based on 45 years of shooting research & field experience.  I don't stalk other members from post to post running everything they say down.  I don't need to.  I'm not allowed to respond to personal attacks anymore.  You can say whatever you wish.

I would take the 30/06 because it can shoot all kinds of bullets.

So can a .308...

The .308 won't handle the heavier .30 caliber bullets.

Better wrong than unethical.

Its just funny and curious to me why that this subject hasn't been locked yet.

I really like my .308 caliber rifle cartridges from the 30-30 Winchester to the 30-06 Springfield and any other variation in between.

I don't have a need for a 300 Winchester Magnum or any belted or non-belted magnum rifle cartridge  since my 30-06 Springfield can do anything I need within a ethical and reasonable range and the right bullet for the job.

If you guys were shooting at something a little larger or needing longer range than a deer... you wouldn't see your .308 as so adequate.

Family budgets being what they are most hunters only have one hunting rifle.

Now that's a statistic I'd like to know your source on. I don't know a single person who hunts and has only one hunting rifle. In fact I'm not sure I know anyone personally who has only two of them much less one.

Anyone at all here fit into that category of owning only a single hunting rifle?

I fall into the single hunting rifle category.....I have several levers, a couple single shots, and a few bolt-actions.  Each year I hold a lottery and one rifle is chosen as that year's hunting rifle.   Hence, I have only one hunting rifle, which this year happens to be a Marlin 336 in 35 rem.

I've heard conversations were "my hunting rifle" was mentioned, but after a little more discussion...there was always more than one "available".
