herd control season
« on: October 19, 2008, 10:03:26 AM »
WI has a 4-day antlerless only season in Units that are considerably over the management goal.  Our farm is in such a Unit.  We also live in a shotgun-only area.  >:(

Here is what I was able to do this morning.  A pair of 1.5 yr does wandered by at about 125yds.  I'm using an H&R 20 ga Ultra Slug Hunter with Hornaday SST sabots.  They shoot very well in this gun.

Fried heart sammiches for lunch...tenderloins for supper.

Ya done good!!!  Year and a half does are what I like to put in the freezer.  I let my trophy hunting buddies go after the big bucks.

The dog is an Airdale?   (Is that spelled correctly.  Spell check tells me it is, but it still looks incorect.)

You're o.k., I don't care what your great grand dad told me about you.
Keep both eyes open and make the first shot good.

I think that change was only for the CWD units.

That may very well be true .I thought when I checked it out earlier that there were very few areas any more that didn't change though .I'll take a look at the new reg again.Kurt

Great job....looks like a great day outdoors!

We hunted a bit in the AM Saturday....of course, 3 bucks only (one was a monster, honestly)  They'll be gone into hiding by November  ;)
