Well,I'm not sure yet.....But,I want a 16.5" 270 caliber don't need one but it would be fun :) .I was thinking of getting a 270Win 24" tube...I found a good deal on it.It's a factory tube and I'm thinking of cutting it to 16.5" then have it rechambered to a 270 Weatherby Mag.Hmmmm what do you guys think..? :?

pj, if you go with a .270, i'd sure like to hear how it does in handgun form. i shot many a deer with my .270 browning a-bolt rifle. IMR4350 and sierra 140gr hpbt did a great job in it. i just don't hear much about .270 handguns, so go for it and fill us in. me personally, i'd prefer the standard .270 win over the magnum. but who am i?

270 Wby Mag - sounds like a handful  , and a good project.  I can surely say that I have not heard of anyone else chambering this one.  Ought to be good for anything from fox to mule deer.  Although I don't think it will do anything that your 300 Win Mag will not do, however a person has to have a new toy every now and then, that is for sure :) .

What happened to your 375 project - did you decide to get a 375 H&H barrel to cut down, or go with one of the GNR cartridges, or VVC cartridges? :?:

Having used a 15 3/4 284 Win. for the last 13 years or so from everything from PD's to bull elk, I would hazard a guess to say that a 16.5 inch 270 Win. will be capable of about anything you want it to do as long as you pick the right bullet for the job and put the bullet in the right place.  Enjoy your new barrel!

Guy's the 270 Weatherby is not that big.My dad has a 270 Weatherby rifle and it does not kick worth beans.I think I'll get the barrel shoot it as a 270Win first.See if I like it, if not I'll then rechamber it to the Weatherby.
