October 20, Good morning Montana
« on: October 20, 2008, 02:18:49 AM »
Well it's a nice cool 34* right now.... get out the suntan lotion I guess.... nah more like some good hot coffee.  I'm just counting the days, for general season to open as it is upon us.  I'm also waiting to hear, either today or tomorrow from the doctor of aproval or not from Workers Comp for my shoulder surgery which will mean one of two things.

I hope and pray for a partial hunting season at least if there is gonna be a surgery.

You all have a great day!

Good Morning Montanan, Good Morning dpe.ahoy, good morning every one else.

Here's positive thinking about hunting season...we are sitting here waiting for the hardware store to deliver a freezer.

I was talking to my Son over the weekend and he was telling me about hunting back in Maryland.  He has already taken his two does and now he can shoot a buck. He told he forgot all the little details that go with taking a deer; things like having a place to hang the deer...made me think, I haven't got a place set up to hang a deer.

In the past I had a shop with a 10 foot ceiling.  I built a pully system to raise the deer up to skin and hang.  I built a simple double block   system with rope and  used brute force to pull the deer up.  I don't have that set-up here.

Now that I am retired and a senior citizen I am going to have work smarter.  The shop I have now has a lower ceiling. I think I will cut an acess panel in the ceiling and build a hanger in the attic.  Harbor Freight has an 880 lb electric hoist that should work just fine.  I can still pull a deer up with a block and tackle now, but in less than 10 years I will be 70, will I still be able to the that deer up then?
