Mike and Tracy meet Dom and see the French 75 up close!
« on: October 20, 2008, 04:07:43 PM »
Dom was very generous with his time today, and Tracy had all his questions about the French 75 answered.  It's even better looking in person!  Mike kept hovering around the Dictator Mortar, and I could see that he was imagining all the various sizes available.  Dom took a four hour coffee break and we learned a heck of a lot about cannons, welding, thick walled barrels and lots of other stuff.  Just talking about cannons made the afternoon lots of fun.  Thank you Dom!!

Best regards,

Mike and Tracy

Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!

I had a great time yesterday and got to see the awesome Brooke Rifle up close and personal.  The detail work on this piece is amazing!  Mike & Tracy are the nicest people to meet and I learned alot from them too.  Thankyou for your visit Mike and Tracy!

Careful there.... When people at work complain about me being late, someone else's job goes ahead of theirs.

Dom, can you put my order 4 hours ahead of DD's?  ;)

Yes that is a fine artillery piece they have created. I wish I had remembered to get my camera when they stopped by.........

Hopefully they'll get to visit with a few other members during their travels  ;D

You know what's really nice?  To be able to put faces to the names I always read about here. Cannons-shmannons; we see them all of the time. Owners and makers we never see. Nice pictures guys!

M&T,
Looks like you guys had fun. Dom is a Great Guy. Hopefully, he didn't reveal too many member's secrets....  ;D  ;D

We tried to get him to talk, but he's such a good guy, that about all we got was that your next cannon had to be light enough to be pulled by your Mini Cooper and that it had to have the capability of hitting a target at a distance equal to the distance between Las Vegas and the little A' Le' Inn, (Little Alien Inn) north of that glittering desert mecca.   ;) ;) ;) ;)

You did take inventory when they left, didn't you?

Douglas,   All we can say here is that sometimes paybacks are a "beeeaach"!   ;D ;D ;D ;D

We do not think you guys have much to worry about as far as Dom's schedule is concerned.  He is focused resolutely on customer satisfaction and is very, very well organized.  We should be as organized as he is, but that would really upset Mike's pyramid-style filing system.  His retort to any comment by me is:  Rush can find anything he looks for in his "Stack of Stuff"; so can I!

Regards,

Mike and Tracy

Actually since I am two time zones away and you get an hour for coffee, it looks like you are back on schedule.

I think this is awesome. Last year I had the pleasure of meeting Jeeper1 and Santa Dave . I know in one of the threads alot of the GBO Cannon / Mortar people for their annual shoot . I can think of a few people real quik that I would like to meet ., and in another moment or two that list would grow to the rest of our wonderful forum. But that a long way for me., starting with New York and heading south my summer would be great ! I love our great big country ...., but it is a great BIG country !!! Cheers to Dom Mike and Tracy

Tropico, well said my man, so just remember this If you ever do plan to come to New York. You can drop in on me and crash at my place, who knows we can take a ride up to Richard The Lionpaws spread and let off few cannons & mortars. I'm sure Richard would love that, all we'll need is a few steaks, cold ones and plenty black powder. ;D

Seeing his name just made me realize that he hasn't posted anything here for awhile; does anyone have any information on Santa Dave's current health status?

The last time I talked to him, a week or two ago, his health was fine. He is kind of busy though.

I had the privelege of meeting Dom at a gunshow a few years back. He is a great guy to talk to and I did get to see some of his work up close. By seeing his work I had to get one of his Dictator mortars. That is one serious peice of artillery. Presently he is going to make a Barrel for me that is one inch bore. So I can do a replica of a cannon I see every day. As for the future Hmm I do like the Golfball naval barrel he is offering.

Blaster,

The implements shown in the photo are exactly the same as I've seen with some of Dom's products. So, I'm 99% sure Dom made those. Hope that helps.

Thanks intoodeep and Dom.  "only for those who need them" ???  Dom, I guess I don't understand why anyone would order them if they are not really needed.

Read it "I'll make implements-only for those who need them"

As in a set of implements without the purchase of a cannon.
