Season Hunting, Oct/Nov over the last 6 years or so.

Title One of my favorite places to take the kids.

Story Two of my 3 kids got their 1st deer at this ranch, just outside of Dell.  Great place to go out for a few hours in the morning, always followed up by one of the best breakfasts to be had in the Dell Calf "A".  The diner is an old converted one room school house, very casual and the sausage patties are to die for.

The Lima Peaks in the background.

My daughter's 1st deer.

My older son's 1st deer. (hopefully the dead animal pics are okay?)

Some more deer.

My older son's 1st antelope buck.

It's been a great place, my youngest son got a deer there this year and an antelope there last year as well, but no pics.

Pics of the kids are bit old.  My daughter is now a Soph at the UofM and my son will turn 18 in a few weeks.

Season Opening day Pheasant season, near Belt, MT, 5-6 years ago.

Title 1st time bird hunting.

Story Took my son out bird hunting for the 1st time.  He used the same 20ga single shot that I started hunting with when I was a kid.  He was kinda small at the time and the gun kicked the snot out of him, but he was all grins at the end of the day.

Another picture.

Season Hunting, November last year, near Raynesford , MT (20 miles east of Great Falls).

Title Youngest son's 1st deer.

Story Well I couldn't leave out a picture of his 1st deer, now could I?  He was happy to finally join the deer hunting fraternity.  He missed several shots before finally getting this one, but we just found out he needed glasses when he failed his eye test on the drivers exam, he now has glasses and can see much better.  ;D

Season Hiking season. (Early September)  ;) in the Pioneer mountain range in SW Montana.

Title Gone fishing

Story One of my favorite places to hike and fish at.  The rock climb down to the lake can be a little treacherous, but it keeps people away.  ;D

Picture from the pass down to the lake, right below Comet mountain probably at about 9,000 ft elevation.

180 degree turn from previous picture.  Saddleback mountain in the background.

July 2008

Pompeys Pillar

Cpt William Clark carved his name into this bluff along the Yellowstone river on July 25, 1806. Its the only remaining physical evidence of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Captain Clark had named the pillar "Pompeys Tower" after Sacagawea's son Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, who was nicknamed "Pomp." Nicholas Biddle, the first editor of Lewis and Clark's journals, changed the name to "Pompeys Pillar."

Here is a great gray owl I got a few pictures of last fall just outside of the Anaconda/Pintler Wilderness.

This is a spruce grouse hen not too far from where the owl pic was taken. I was able to crawl within about 4 feet of her to get this pic.

Here is a pair of moose sheds in the same area.

I caught this 32" rainbow on 05/26/09. I used an ultra-light rod with 4# test line.

Thanks guys! I went out today and caught another beauty. Not as big as the other fish, but still a handful on an ultra-light rig. The pics a little angled since I used the timer on my camera to take it.

Gotta love Montana!

Great way to start the month of June!

Season: June 2005, near Sweetgrass, MT

Title:  Mom and babies

I use this photo on my power point presentations to end the show.  "The End"  fades in the lower corner.  I have never bothered to hunt Antelope in MT.  I should.

Granddaughter and I were at this spot this afternoon. If you were to turn around and look the opposite direction, there was a doe antelope and her twin fawns.
