advice for pilgrim
« on: August 08, 2003, 06:32:53 AM »
My brother has plans to visit some former employees (aggricultural exchange students) in So. Africa in June/July, 2004.  They have indicated that we can plan to hunt several antelope species and possibly varmints  while there and I have been invited along.  While we both have experience hunting in the midwest and western states, at hunt in SA would be an entirely new experience for both of us.  Any recommendations on informative books on the animals?  What to prepare for?, etc.  Any advise would be appreciated.

First be certain he has hired a licensed PH to be along. It will not be that expensive and it will allow you to bring back the trophies. Without a PH to fill out the log book you cannot get export papers for the trophies. It's not legal for a non-resident to hunt without a PH, much like Canada.

Here is a book I wrote about Africa travel. You can get it direct from me or on Amazon.com it should answer about all your questions for a hunting trip there.
