The fact is that every Rifle is law unto itself. You will have to buy a few different brands in the size and bullet that you want to shoot and try them out. That is really the only way to know. I shoot 105 gr speer hand loads in my 243 and 240 weatherby I hate to say it but I havn't used the 243 in a few years but I did work up a load for it this year.

There is a reloading forum here on Graybeard's that is very informative. I would recomend starting out with a single stage press and buying and reading as many reloading manuals as possible. I have a rcbs single stage that does everything that I need as I do not load anything in high volume. If you have any buddies that load, it is very helpful to enlist there help as well. Just be careful, loading can be addictive.

You can buy a package deal from Lee or RCBS, probably others as well. These are pretty economical. Or you can buy peice by peice. You can get in for under 300 dollars or you can spend thousands. Single stage means that the press only preforms one action at a time. Take a look at the Loading forum, there is a great sticky at the top that will help you get started.

Tunaman has given you some great advise. I agree with everything he says. Listen to him and you can't go wrong. I hope you have as good luck with your Howa as I have with mine. I think they are very good rifles for the money. I don't own a 243 so I can't shed any light on that subject but as far as the reloading goes it is addictive and also a very interesting hobby as well.

A good pellet that shoots well out of a lot of .243s is the 100 grain Nosler Partition using 41.5 grains of IMR 4350. This load chronographs at 2872 fps out of my 22" tang safety Ruger.

A 243 WIN "round" would be best cartridge to use if the rifle is actuallly a Howa 1500 in 243 WIN. If you are asking what is the best bullet to use or which brand of cartridges loaded with a recommended bullet - then one would have to ask for which deer - mule, whitetail or roe ? Are you also going to use it for varmits, paper or other game ? Long distance shots - close shots. As mentioned the best option is to buy or reload cartridges with appropriate bullets and see which is most accurate.
