When the .450 first came out, a goober (yep, I said goober) that I know bought one, the first that I'd heard of anyone locally getting. He'd never owned a centerfire rifle before, all of his deer hunting was done with an old Savage pump shotgun and foster slugs. His strategy was that if the deer run through an onslaught of lead, one the slugs is bound to hit it.
So anyway, he bought the .450 in the Marlin. Used it once and sold it. Said that it kicked way to hard for him to use, even though it "
was such a flat shooting bullet." Dumbfounded, I said "What?" He proceeds to tell me that the gun shoots really flat, when it's dead on at 100 yds it's only 6" low at 300. YEAH. I asked him if he ever shot it at 300 yds.....NOPE.
Ignorance is NOT a pretty thing.
