Are you referring to the Raptor pellets?

There is a lot of junk out there calling themselves pellets.... Of course there always has been such.  One of their pellets has a steel bb in the nose, that is probably ok to shoot, but airguns have soft barrels, and you won't find me shooting anything but lead and only the best at that, JSB, Crosman.

a gold plated alloy can still be magnetic and not be steel.
They seem to shoot quite well.

Gamo states that they are gold plated steel. I've read reviews that say every thing from super fast and accurate to fast and erratic with poor penetration.

Where does Gamo say that? They are not steel at all. The Raptors are a non-lead alloy consisting of mostly tin, with nickel, copper, titanium and iron in descending order, with a very thin electroplating of gold.

Geez, . . . sounds like they ought to call them Gamo "German Silver" instead of Gold.  :-)

the Raptors don't mushroom at all on impact, I pulled a couple from my target and they were hardly scuffed, seems a mushrooming lead pellet would cut a bigger hole and cause more damage where the raptor would be a through and through shot and not a killing one? Howard

Dave, when I called them at 954 581 5822 the man said gold plated steel. He didn't go through the whole metallurgical make-up. Not that it matters since I'm not going to put any of them through my Feinwerkebau.
