This is my first post here.I think I have been bitten badly by this T/C bug I have read about.Been reading a lot of the posts,13 hours worth, and finally have questions.I have owned an older contender carbine for a while and once I got my 7-30 waters barrel on it and couldn't believe the accuracy with the factory loads, I had to get a pistol frame for myself to see what I could do with that, a few barrels later some more furniture and now I find myself wanting a muzzleloader setup for it. So I start looking around and thinking I need to get an encore, but that isn't good enough after looking around I have found that I NEED a pro hunter from the custom shop with the gold scroll. Lets look at how I got to this decision My carbine is an older blued frame, I could get a G2 muzzleloader setup and cut the tab off(I know it would void the warranty and lets face it the pressures from the black powder aren't any higher than the 45/70, so it can be done) and I would rather have the stainless for the blackpowder plus I like having the option of the larger calibers. But I have an older Blued T/C Scout that has taken a fair amount of deer and well over few hundred rounds thru it and It still looks great, so is stainless/gold necessary? I think so.The next concern I have on the pro hunter muzzleloader is with their speed breach, I would rather not have it so I would be looking for an older encore with a breach plug that is threaded all the way, 25% less thread = a longer breach, am I right on this? The stock is the next thing, I like their new Flextech but does any one know what the difference between the thumbhole flextech and the pistol grip in perceived recoil, the thumbhole stock has two fewer of their "recoil absorbing arches" but they are the smaller ones. I have a thumbhole on my carbine and love it so if there is minimal difference that is what I will go with. Next is what caliber besides the muzzleloader do I start out with. My main Deer gun is a ruger 77 MKII 308 and I haven't gotten skunked yet (I probably will regret typing that), My Moose/Elk gun is a Win 70 338WM w/boss, I have 223 in both my contenders plus a mini 14, My grandfathers Stevens 30/30, numerous 22s 22magnums +. So I have no other choice than getting a 45/70 which I don't have yet.So here is what I am going to be looking for Pro Hunter with the scrolling in 45/70 (older encore muzzleloader down the road) thumbhole flextech stock and a scope to be decided on later.Does this BUG ever go away.Is anyone going to try to talk me out of this, besides my wife?
