i have a stainless 40 and like it alot. it feels great in my hands. of course the only thing it needs is a better trigger pull. it is almost unbearable when comparing it to others i like to shoot.

I have a .40 s&w sigma that I carry 7 Days a week,I totally trust it as a personal protection carry, holds enough ammo to make me happy {double stacked} I've been working with it for about a full year and I'm sold so I guess we are few but I am happy to carry mine.

The first generation Sigmas had more than their fair share of problems but I think that most if not all have been remedied in the later incarnations.  Even the later versions had pretty atrocious triggers. I'm not sure if that has been fixed in the latest versions

I know this an older post but I will express my opinion anyway. I have an SW40VE. It shoots nice and didn't break the bank. I don't know what everyone's problem is with this gun, besides the trigger. It's just a cheaper version of the Glock 17.

I shot my first and only 10 shot one hole group at ten yards slow fire off hand with the "lowly" Sigma in 9mm. Seriously, a nickle could have covered the single hole.

So much for "cheap" pistol snobs.  I have never been able to repeat this with any pther gun including some really nice ones from Sig, and Wilson.

My question would have to be can you repeat it with the same gun?  If not then it was a fluke and not dependent on the gun at all.   Sounds like the planets were lined up or something.

I didn't see anyone indicate that they had a "problem" with this gun in it's current incarnation.  I did state that the earliest models were troublesome and I will stick by that statement.  I have no 1st hand experience with more resent versions so have no opinion on them.

I have the SW40VE and it has been flawless as far as shooting. It does have a heavy trigger pull and I have seen others compare it to the pull of a double action revolver. My problem is finding a holster for it. When looking at holsters to order, the Sigma is not listed as an option. It the Sigma the same as the Glock 17 to the degree that a holster for the Glock 17 would work well for the Sigma? I just don't know how the Sigma's shape and size compares to other more popular pistols.

Are you kidding?  Try and repeat the same 10 shot one holer?  I was shaking so bad by the last shot I doubt I could have hit the "broadside of a barn." Besides after impressing everyone watching on the range it was a great place to stop. ;D

I don't doubt the fluke nature of the event but the gun had a part in the feat. That then was my point, Sigmas are not bad guns.

Once in a row with anything proves nothing.  Sorry, but unless you can repeat it doesn't do you or the gun any good.  But it is kind of a moot point with a personal defense weapon anyway.  You want each shot doing new damage, which you are likely to have since the pumping adrenalin will have taken out your find motor coordination anyway.  Far more important than one hole shooting is that each shot goes off when triggered.  If your sigma does that (like my old favorite 4506 does) then its all good.

Longfin,

The Fobus HK holster will fit perfectly. I carry my 9mm Sigma VE in one. Fobus lists the Sigma as fitting this holster.

Based on the post title:

Sigma no respect

and content I shared the story intending to underscore that the gun is far more capable than common opinion seems to credit. My purpose was not to claim that I or the gun was some sort of super superior target gun. My purpose was to perhaps give the post originator something to counter the tide negative opinion.

As for repeating this performance, I have not had the opportunity since it is owned by a friend. I only shot it that day in hopes to reduce my friends growing dismay over the gun's seeming in ability to hit paper at at ten yards. Upon my proving that the gun could hit paper and then some, he continued through the trouble shooting process and realized the problem was actually that he had just purchased new glasses with both new prescription and "transition" type bifocals.

I believe that the Sigma is every bit as qualified to take its place among the polymer guns it competes with for accuracy, dependability and quality...all at a much reduced price.

I have a full size 9 that is one of the first batch guns.  I bought it at a really reduced price from a range that was going out of business.  I think it was $100 bucks with 2 mags 10 years ago.  I think I have more in Bianchi leather for the gun than I do into it.
I have not shot it a bunch but it hasnot failed.  I don't shoot it a lot as I have 2 sig's in 9 and one in 40 that I shoot better.  But I have used it when taking customers to shoots and it has never failed to fire, feed, or extract.
The only problem I had with it was one of my friends went to a steel shoot with me and wanted to shoot it and stuck it in his holster not use my leather and popped the front sight off.
If you have $600 for a hand gun don't get a Glock get a Sigma, plastic holster, spare mag or two and a lot of ammo for the same $600 as the Glock.  You will be able to shoot the gun at a steel or IDPA shoot for the price of owning a glock.
To you that own glocks.  Good for you.  I'll stay with my sigma  Same bang for less bucks

And you are completely missing the point of my post.  One performance does not prove (or disprove) anything.  It is just one target.  If you can consistently shoot a target like that, then it is a target gun.  But like I said even if you can it doesn't make it a good protection weapon.  Consistent reliability does that.  It needs to be there for you when you need it.  And in my opinion if it hits a couple inches either side of the first shot so much the better.  It does more damage that way.

Get what you want.  If it is the Sigma and you like it great.  I have no dog in the fight.  I have several Smiths that I trust completely.  One is an automatic.  It is a 4506 that is my primary home defense weapon.  And is reliable as the day is long.  I hope your Sigma is just as reliable.

I have a 9MM sigma and think it is a very good pistol for the price.  Actually my son is trying to get me to "trade up" to and M&P 9, but I really kinda like the Sigma.
