Winchester 94 conversion?
« on: August 08, 2003, 08:57:38 PM »
Anyone know if it would be possible to convert the 94 XTR to feed a .348 Winchester case? Not the length, just the diameter. Rim of 356 is .546" and rim of 348 is .610".
I have in mind a .348 case, cut to just about 2", necked to .358 and blown out to .533" at the shoulder, 35 degrees.
Maintain COL of 2.56", but capacity of 350 Rem, loaded to .356 pressures.
My guess is a 250gr @ 2500 fps.
(It's called the .358 Ursa Minor   )
Any input would be appreciated, where to look, proof it can't be done, etc.
Thanks!

cant say about the win. but when I started my .475 94 marlin project i was told that there isnt enough meat in the chamber area for a .500 line. which is based on the .348 case so I doubt if there is in a win. either. You might want to consider doing the same thing and basing it on a 4570 case.
