Bergara .270 Barrel
« on: October 27, 2008, 11:26:50 AM »
Today I had a chance to try the used, but unfired 270 Bergara barrel I bought of a hunting forum.  I am very impressed with the barrel.  The fit and finish is great and it was shooting 130 grain Remington Cor Lokts at under 1.5 inches at one hundred yards.  More than adequate for minute of whitetail accuracy.  I plan on putting it to the test in West Virginia when I take my annual Thanksgiving Day trip.  I have read a lot of Bergara bashing around here, but I am confident in their product and will purchase another on in 30-06 soon.

A  guide I hired for an elk hunt uses 130gr bullets in his 270 to shoot  elk in the neck.

I assume 130's will be plenty for whitetail deer.

I am glad you found a good Bergara barrel.

Yes, 130 grain bullet out of a 270 Winchester is plenty for deer.

Good luck,

Nope, in my first hand knowledge and hands on experience, they didn't work for me.

I am glad to heard, some folks are finding good luck with theirs.

I have three Bergara barrels for my CVA Optima Elite, 243, 7mm-08 and 300 WinMag, all shoot 1¼"-1½" with factory ammo, even better with handloads.  I only recollect one issue here with a Bergara barrel by JerryKo, all the rest of the reports by actual Bergara owners have been favorable. I'd not hesitate to buy a Bergara barrel for my Encore if I was in the market for one, all of my barrels are finished nicely and fit well, no worse of better than the TC PH barrel on my Encore.  ;)
