45-70 your heart is in the right place, but online petitions are even more useless than the paper kind, as they cannot be used for toilet paper by the people they are addressed to, like normal petitions.

I forget how many million people petitioned President Bush to pardon those two border patrol agents that got locked up for shooting it out with a smuggler, but it was into the tens of millions last I saw it. It achieved nothing... the agents are in prison, the smuggler is free and several million dollars richer, and most people have forgotten it even happened.

Signing such petitions might make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside but they are completely useless and serve no purpose other than to add tracking cookies to your computer. No one pays any attention to such things other than the folks who sign them.

If it makes you feel good about yourself then go for it but if you think you are accomplishing something worthwhile you're deluding yourself. The ONLY petition or poll that counts is the one on November 4.

This is sad but true...There is a lot of Internet petitions out there but I don't believe that they are worth the pixel that they were created with unless the petition comes from your own precint and includes youre full signature and home address.

Tis true, and one major reason is that there is no way to verify signatures on these things. It'd be trivial for almost anyone to write a bot ton constantly sign it with fake names and whatever interval you wanted to. Just like the results of internet polls can't be relied on, neither can internet petitions, so nobody pays them ANY attention.

Even worse, on the ones where you have to include an email address, if you include a real one you very well could simply be signing yourself up for junk email.

As ironman suggests, get out there on the 4th, vote, and see how the pieces fall into place. Not much else to do.
