Civil war???
« on: October 28, 2008, 10:22:47 AM »
Is it time again? I'm not talking about a war between the states this time, I am talking about about 2 completely opposite and irreconcilable groups we have now in America. Do we split up the country or do we fight it out and may the best side win? I think soon the time for talking is past.

I posted this on another thread, but this likes a more appropriate place.

"I give this a lot of thought.  About bo, I mean.
If our populace had their heads screwed on straight, this bum would not get 10 seconds worth of serious thought, by anyone.  He would be laughed at as the radical demagogue he is.
I think he is merely a symptom of a very serious mental disorder our society suffers from.
We did not get to this point overnight.
This is the product of 2 generations of brainwashing.
Our country apparently has many, many enemies within our own borders.
bo is kind of like the scab on a decubitis ulcer (bed sore).
Treating the scab itself is not going to work.  You have to treat the underlying tissue, and address the causing factors, which is difficult.
I think McCain just might pull out a victory.  The polls we are hearing are from the people who got us in this position in the first place.
If McCain does win, we still have a serious problem, very serious.
The enemies within our country are going to have to be confronted, and stopped, by legal means of course.
As of yet, there does not seem to be any organized movement to do so, but it can be done.
If bo wins, I fear all bets are off. ""

Not sure if you could call it a civil war. What I think will happen will be small ''clans'', for lack of a better word. If things happen, the way I think they might, at first, you'll have inner city riots.(Remember L.A. and the R.King incident, and then New Orleans) Then, groups might form, if somebody has the leadership to hold them together, probably groups of 20 to 50. This will be the hardest to control, as try and imagine, the police have a hard time handling rioters and protestors after basketball and football games, when the crowd is just drunk or too exuberant. How will they be from being hungry for days or weeks. And with the National Guard units having been extended for the war overseas, how many of them are going to be there. Probably some of us ''civilians'',myself included, should offer the local police and sheriff's dept's, backup, unauthorized militia's, so to speak. At first they might not like the idea, but if it gets real nasty, like I hope it won't, but afraid it will, they might not have a choice. I hope I'm wrong. gypsyman

Oh well, I'm sure there are millions of things we don't agree on.

I think it's a valid question and one on the minds of many people. I'm not advocating for or against it but do suspect that it's coming to a town near you way sooner rather than later than you think.

If Obama does not win it's highly likely riots will break out in major cities all across the nation. These might then spread outward and eventually lead to what might generically be called a civil war.

If he does win I think it's highly likely riots will break out in major cities all across the nation. These might then spread and grow and a less than united effort might be under way to try to return this country to its roots and to restore the US Constitution which seems to be under attack from DC.

Then again it might not happen but either way I think it's on the minds of many so it's a valid target for discussion.

It's been on my mind, to be honest.  I will NOT be going to it, but I fear it will be coming to me.
It's been on the mind of most people I know.  I have had cordial, friendly discussions with strangers that I meet, and invariably this topic will come up.  Everyone is guarded about what they say, but the fear is there nonetheless.
I have been expecting this for some time now, and have prepared myself.
If SHTF, neither myself, or anyone I know, or have talked to, will be defenseless.

This subject is valid and needs to be discussed. We may not like what is going on or the out come it may bring but the facts remain the same. This election has opened many old wounds and rubbed raw a few new ones. Racial tension is among us and there is no sweeping it under the rug. Today while at work a group of employees were sitting in the breakroom talking about random things. The election had never been mentioned and one of the people in the group made a comment about supporting a candidate.Next thing you know it was a full blown "HEATED" argument about racism. These are, or were friends for many years and it comes down to this. This group was mixed black and white. Everyone at work stumbles through conversations trying not to say anything that could be taken the wrong way.
We can't deny racism is still very much alive and well.

Oh it exists all right.  For the past 30 years white people have been bending over backwards trying not to do anything that could be contrued as racist.  Perhaps not all, but I'd say at least 90%.
Contrast that to the current mindset among blacks.  I'd say its 90% the other direction.

Odd isn't it that the Civil War or War of Northern Agression was about slavery according to some.  Tomorrow the civil war will be attributed to black supremacy.  I realize this is not the truth in either case, but you know how people distort the facts.
Greg lost his battle with cancer last week on April 2nd 2009. RIP Greg. We miss you.

Even though it was the war for/against states rights, the Civil war has such a racial connotation.  I believe a new Revolutionary War is what we need!  Americans need to unite through the races and rebel against big government!

I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

I sent an email to my family and friends, informing them that I would be nowhere near a large city on election day or the next few days, pointing out what happens when a sports team wins or loses a championship. I'll be in my little town, with my usual defensive armament available. Yesterday, I went to the shooting range to make sure the scope on my SKS was zeroed (it wasn't) and bought a brick of .22's. Today, I bought another can of Bullseye for my .45 and .38 loads. I have a goodly number of primers, and over 300 pounds of hard lead alloy for bullet casting. I'm not looking for trouble, but don't intend to be overtaken by it.

Living in the country won't keep you safe from anarchy.  There's a guy on AR-15.com, goes by the name ferfal308, who knows a thing or two about anarchy.  He lived in Argentina back a few years ago when they had a financial melt-down.  He has written an excellent account of day-to-day life in a country that went from a pleasant place to live, to a hell-hole.  It doesn't sound fun or glamorous.  I'll link you if you're interested.

I'm not so sure I'd want to be in an isolated position out in the country.
Stragetically, being isolated, in a house, in them middle of the night, you could end up being highly vulnerable to a gang of whatever.  You are gonna have to sleep.
Of course you do have the advantage of familiarity with the local environment.
Then again, the gang of perpetrators could be locals as well.
Then again, I could be wrong.
This type of thinking is somewhat new to me.  I've been doing a lot of it lately though.
I hate that it's come to this.

So do we split the country? Or do we fight it out to the finish and hope we are on the winning side? I for one cannot see both sides coming together. Irreconsilable difference would be the way it is described. The biggest problem is that the International community will want to stick it's nose in this personal dispute, and we know who they will side with. So come this election, think about your vote. Do we win, or do they?

Billy, I really don't see it coming to that so soon.  Among the unwashed masses, there is a great enthusiasm for Obama and his message, which is vague enough to really resonate with the mindless American Idol watchers out there.  Malcontents like you and I will grumble and maybe even march in the streets, but the media will paint us as radicals, gun nuts, and if, God forbid, one of us gets caught with a case of .22 ammo and more than two guns (an arsenal, according to the Democrats) we will no doubt be called domestic terrorists.  The average joe on the street is dumb enough to buy into it, and he will feel better about Obama being president, even though nothing meaningful will have changed from Bush's reign.

Now, give this country 4 or 8 years of Obama, and anything is possible.

You pointed out what the media will do.
Well damn the media.
The liberal media can kiss my ass.
It's like the media has become some omnipotent entity.
There is no doubt the media has become, and is the tool of the enemy.
The coverage of this election has been criminal.
If SHTF, they, and their puppet masters are the cause.
I think shtf time is coming soon.  Maybe next week, but if an event should occur before then, it will happen sooner.

As for having only 2 rifles in your arenal...

Think of the scene out of We Were Soldiers, where Mel Gibson was trying to get Sam Elliot to use an M16, Sam promptly looks at Mel and says... "when the time comes I need one, There'll be plenty of em layin on the ground..."

Should the day come if an armed insurrection happens, those opposing the govenment will be the terrorist.  The world will forget about muslim terrorist, and the media around the world will shine the spotlight on the rebellion and its terrorist ways.  You will se NATO forces on the ground and those that side w/ the government will be more than happy to see them...

I was thinking of that same movie this morning.  Sam Elliott's character reminded someone, if they are close enough to kill us, they are close enough for us to kill them.

It is my belief that this mess has been engineered by a small group of individuals.  They have been doing this for years.  They have only been able to achieve this because only a small part of us have figured out who they are.  They do control the media, the economy, entertainment industry ( a biggie ) and many politicians.
They have, over time, subtly influenced our thoughts and ideas.  Remember All in the Family, and Mash?  That was roughly the start, though it was happening before then.  I was watching csi night before last, and there was manipulation of ideas in that show.

Americans do not have a history of unleashing sneak attacks on unarmed civilians.   You might be able to point to isolated cases, your claim may or may not be valid.  In war, civilian casualties are inevitable of course.  But that is not our target.  In fact, as I understand, in today's military, rules of engagement are so rigid, we seem to be willing to take a certain amount of casualties to avoid this.
We are not terrorists, because we are better than that.  Terrorists attacks are indicative of a cowardly thinking people.  That is not who we are.
" we are screwed "
