As mentioned before there is NOT a single Yugoslavian SKS I am aware of in existence with a chrome lined barrel. Period. Unless of course someone put one on...Yugo never had one (that I am aware of)
Ok, also as mentioned above but I will share now my opinion.......you want a 7.62x39 with a pistol grip, semi auto, nice sights and to be real new and reliable? Still made in Russia as just like Simonov is called a Kalashnikov.....AK-47. A million AK options are available which fit your bill. You'd be OTD for about $400
Ok, an SKS option for you since you asked and this seems to be your "pointed question". I would recommend an SKS M or D which was made in China and is usually deemed Norinco....Yep Norinco is Ban from importation years ago and so you will pay a premium. All Norinco I am aware of are Chrome lined barrels. The SKS M and D version were impoted with the ability to accept AK mags as the feed. Some conversions were done after hitting the shores so keep a good eye open. An SKS M is essentially an AK-47 with an SKS operation system. I'd sell my M model for about $400 (hmmmm just like a NEW AK) ...whoops edited to say I am NOT selling by the way.....not before an election
Then from here as you want a Pistol Grip you would buy a new stock set or kit from somewhere (never looked personally) and I imagine a $129 bill right away. Needs to be fitted as well and tweaked to work so add another $35 or so. You are right into the $565 arena. For a semi auto 7.62x39 that works well. (sounds like an AK to me but costs 165 more)
I will try for pics STOLEN from another site....they are not mine but depict an SKS M in a newer stock that looks like what you want.
My opinion (also in the 100+club) is to stick to you rlist of WANTS but to open the optoins past the SKS action. Even though it is simple and reliable there are indeed more options. I liked the reference to the Ar in x39 as well. Very possible and in the same $$$ "range" (200 more??) as custom building your SKS.
