OK I had to have one to make things a little more exciting. I have recently been shooting a Kimber Montana 7mm08 with a 3x12 scope with a 57mm objective lens. Well I picked up the BC and some Hornady Leverlutions and Rem 405's and went to the range. Was going to start off at 50 yds but too crowded so started at 100yds to sight in. I looked down the bore and set the windage and elevation. I know you think sure you are wasting your time. First shot was high second and 3rd all over. Cleaned barrel with bore cleaner and shot 3 more times not good results. Then the 4th 5th and 6th all were within 2.5 inches. This is with the Leverlution ammo. I cleaned again and raised and moved over the sight to adjust for group. Again the first couple shots go all over then I get another 3 shot group about 2.5 inches apart. I had my friend shoot a round and he too hit the same group. I think well for 20 rounds total it would group within 3 inches except for the first 2 or so fouling rounds after cleaning. This was my version of a gun breakin. Do I need to keep cleaning? I do not want to clean and then go hunting to have my first round go astary.
Will the groups get better with more rounds? I know I will get better after more practice. My trigger is nice too. I also wonder what insert to use on the muzzle sight. It came with the peep in front but I am going to use this gun hunting and thought the post with the dot on top of it might be best for hunting since you could see the animal better. When you change the insert does your POI change with each insert. I know if I float the target with the post I will but if I blot it out will it stay the same for the most part.
Fun gun, I shot the Kimber too at 100 yds and had a 1 inch group but it was not as fun as the big gun.
I will have more questions in the future and will share my OJT knowledge as I go through this experience.
Thanks Robbie
