Good price single six
« on: October 29, 2008, 06:08:17 PM »
I am planning to use my Christmas bonus to purchase a ruger single six convertable .22 in 4 5/8" barrel length.  They seem to be increasing in price on gunbroker since I looked earlier in the summer.  What is a decent price for one ?The local shops don't have any and if they did they are always $150 more than the shops in Tucson for everything.  They seem to specialize in ripping off the soldiers here.  I will have to go up to Tucson or Phoenix and look around but I wan't to know a good deal when I see one. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Several years ago Ruger did a special run of SS Single Sixes in 22/22mag with 4 5/8" barrel as a Lipsey's Special,I bought one ,my dealer told me if I ever wanted to sell it he could get  me a premium price for it as they are in demand.I approached Lipseys staff at the SHOT show in Las Vegas this year to ask if they had anymore of these revolvers, they said they haven't seen any in several years. There is no listing about this revolver in the 28th edition of The Blue Book of Gun Values. http://www.lipseys.com lists a Lipseys Exclusive Single Six SS 4 5/8" barrel 22/22mag for $567 MSRP look under Lipseys Exclusives

Was that a premium for stainless?  I want a blued one. The ones on gunbroker are in the mid $300's.  Earlier this year they were below $300.  Gunbroker is no longer feasible for me for handguns now that UPS started their next day air rip-off.

A lot depends on the condition of the piece.  Expect to pay between $250 to $350 for one in 95% condition or better especially if the gun comes with it's original box and manual.   I've seen dealers asking more but don't know if they are getting many takers.   Once in a blue moon you hear of someone picking one up at an estate auction for less but those are rare finds.
