I wouldn't have believed it if........
« on: October 31, 2008, 04:30:58 AM »
I hadn't seen it myself.I had 2 traps to pull just north of my house. One had made a catch last check so I left it snapped not remade,on top off the ground. The other set,a dirthole,I covered the trap and hole with a big cow chip. There were going to be some pheasant hunters through there and I didn't want dog problems. When I went to pull the 2 traps there was a big old male coyote waiting for me in the set that I'd covered with the cow chip.He evidently moved the cow chip to work the bait in the hole.Had a nice left front paw pad catch. It was a standard dirthole with about a tablespoon of John Grahams Fur Country Double Cross Bait down the hole and a light shot of coyote urine on a small tuft of grass backing.I was speechless to say the least.Bill

The location is great.A saddle and  bottleneck gate opening between to huge watershed drainages.Every coyote around goes through there to avoid town and get into new hunting territory. There was no sign there when I set it up but it is always a hot spot.
