October 31 Good morning Montana

Good morning Montana!

Well we didn't go hunting this morning.  The alarm went of and the "lead hunter" said turn that off and go back to sleep, so I did.

Going to go to the range later today and sight in my .375 2 1/2 Flange NE and  use if for the rest of the Season.

So here are the pictures from yesterday....

I hate finding stuff like this where our doe populations are the best in the farm area:

Could quite tell what took this one down, but my farm deer population was scarse yesterday.  All I saw were little does in the tree grove, and not one of them a shooter doe that would have been mature enough.

But here we got a problem as this was #1 of 3 does found.

Here is some scat that is obviously K9 type wether it be wolf or coyotes as we got them both in this area.

So I went to a stand of trees that should have held some deer, but I could only find old sign in this area.  I tried everything I could to call in a buck or doe into this area, but finally with light getting very low called it a day.

I think I'm going to wait to come back to the farm.

I don't think that is wolf, the marrow hasn't been touched.

Well that is what I was thinking to, but usually a pack of coyotes will eat the whole thing or pretty close to 99%, and this is a small doe here.  Maybe a lobo or loan coyote as there is only one scatt sign that I could find.  We will be keeping an eye out for any that we find, and if they are coyotes the 223 Rem will be pulled out and used to dispatch them.

I see something on that carcass that I would check to see if it might be a wolf.  You would have to peel the hide back to be sure.  There appears to be to fang marks in the hair over the shoulder.  Peel the had back and look at the fang spacing.  There is no mistake between coyote wolf when you see those fangs marks and the damage they do.  Yes I have been on a couple of wolf kills.
