Knocked down a bigun
« on: October 31, 2008, 08:29:40 AM »
After guiding all of CO archery and calling my wife's elk during muzzleloader I went to MT to hunt their fall turkey season with my 62 smooth bore flint lock.
Got into em good and was able to bring this one in off his roost setting up a perfect ambush.

Thursday I was mainly goofing around, just sitting watching some deer feeders to see what might show up (nothing ).

Really hoped some hogs might show up. Not yet deer gun season, but would like to have shot some hogs.

My son leaves his Bushmaster Varminter with me, so I was carrying it.

As I walked down to visually check the feeders, I saw something dark colored moving and thought it was some hogs. When I put the glass on them realized it was some turkeys.

Although I was not even thinking about hunting turkeys, I though "Why not?"

Got a nice one. Did not weigh it but it had a 12 inch beard.  Stepped off 250 steps, so I was pleased with my shot. Although I know it is not an exceptional shot with that gun.
