Besides .22 matchgun pistols, I have a small number of favourite guns, and some of them delivers match accuracy

The first one is a solid keeper, I will never let this little gun go. Its a Walther PPK, and it shoots great with CCI Standard. It rides safely in my pocket during small game hunting.

The next one is a Smith&Wesson mod 18, great for inexpensive revolvertraining and my sons and wifes favourite.

The most beatiful gun I have, must be this High Standard Thropy. It was made in 1966, and the bluing is fantastic. And it delivers matchgrade accuracy with many brands of ammunition. I have won som matches with this gun, in competition with 40 years newer guns.

The last "gun" is a Colt conv.unit. Here on top of a STI TargetMaster frame. I get 11/2" groups on 25m with CCI standard. Perhaps it would perform better with a new matchbushing. Any suggestions?
I was nearly trading it for a Marvel conv.unit, but I think I better off with this.

I had a prewar brown gripped gold safety, trigger, and hammer PPK that would shoot 10 rings all day long off sandbags. Nice group of .22s you've got there.

We've all let some good ones slip away. One of my biggest gun trading regrets is a Model 18 I bought new in the 1970s. I can't even remember now what I traded it for. That was a big mistake!

My favorite is a toss up between 3 guns. A ruger MKII stainless with 10" bbl, a MKII blue with 6" bbl threaded for a can, and this little gem...

Olav, hello from across the border (I´m Swedish), I like your taste in 22lr´s.
Do you have the same situation in Norway as we here in Sweden, theres a lot of cheap mod.14 and mod.17 for sale, but S&W with 4" barrels like the mod.18 are very hard to find (I know they didnt make a lot of those) anyway I prefer 4" barrels on revolvers and have been looking for a mod.29 or 25 4" but it seems like they only surface when I´m flat broke.

Here is my High Standard, I took the thumb-rest off and refinished the grips, I wanted to make it more like my 1911 for cheap practise.

I have modest tastes. My favorite is an old H&R 999 that I picked up used many years ago. But I do have to say I enjoy shooting my full sized Bounty Hunty .22 convertable. It doesn't even move when you drop the hammer. The 999 cost me a whole $120 (high at the time for a used one) and the bounty hunter was only $80 in the used gun case.

I wish I could do pictures. Every time I go to get one of those digital things...I end buying a new gun instead. I've got an old M18(mine doesn't have the electrical tape...but I do think that adds a little character)which has absolutely the best trigger of ANY gun I've ever tried. Then there is my old 5.5"Super Single Six three screw and a special run Bisley with a stainless grip frame(rest of the gun is blue) and "good" fixed sights like the early Single Sixes. Then there is the one that I let get away(I guess we all have to do it once)...my first ever handgun purchase....my old Bearcat....bought brand new in 1962 for $49.95. I wonder how many dozen bricks of 22's I ran thru that one. GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt

My favorite changes from time to time depending on what resides in the safe. My "right now" favorite is a S&W Model 63 stainless with a five inch barrel. I do like that little revolver. It fits, it's light, it's accurate and good looking to boot.

My most used 22 is a Ruger MKII 6 7/8 stainless bull barrel. I've taken quite a few grouse and squirrels with it. Carry it a lot on my snowmobile. The gun I like the most is my first 22 handgun- a Colt's New Frontier with fixed sights and 22 mag cylinder. I don't shoot it that well and since its blued I baby it. But I picked it up used while in college when a dorm mate needed $50. Shot it a lot for a few years and banged it up a bit. I take it to the range now and then and still really enjoy it. Once in a while I get the urge for a K22 but haven't ever acted on it.

My favourite .22 revolver is actialy a pair of Ruger Bearcats with real Stag grips on them. I'm slowly devesting myself of all my other .22 pistols and just keeping the pair of them for life.

5" S&W 617, you must of done some customizing to this, I never heard of S&W making such an animal? Any pics, please?

I'm surprised to find I have no photos of my favorite rimfire handgun, I'll have to take some today. It's a 6" AMT automag ll in .22 WMR with a Burris Fastfire red dot. Light to carry, plenty of punch, a flat trajectory and is more accurate than I can hold. I couldn't ask for more from a field gun.

I guess if I had to pick only "ONE" .22 rimfire favorite it would have to be my old S&W K-22.
This has always fit me like a glove and boy does it shoot.

I'd have to agree. I bought a S&W 22A-1 in camo this last fall but, don't have any pictures of it yet.

Got a couple of pics of the AMT. I carry it under my coat (with a permit) so comfortably in my homemade shoulder rig that I can forget it's there. The sight hood is attached to the holster with a short string so that when I draw the gun the hood pops off and the sight is turned on and ready to go instantly and the hood doesn't get lost.

The 617 was a 6" gun that I had cut to 5". It took 3 oz from the muzzle and made it much more compatible to my 627. The 617 weighs 46.6 oz. The 627 weighs 46.2 oz. Both with Pachmayr grips.

What ever works. I happened to find this guy who cut barrels. Who cut the full length lug off for you? My 6" Model 17 weighs 44.7 oz. I would love to duplicate it in stainless.
