I will be setting strictly for Muskrats on opening day, then on sunday afternoon ,I hope to work in some, beaver, coon and mink sets.I will be accompanied by my 14 year old grandson on Sunday, give him a taste of the rat line, and he can also act as photographer.
Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable season. Gas prices are finally in our favor, filled up at $2.19 a gallon today, and also saw it for $2.09.This is lower than prices were,3 years ago.

My week on the coon line net me only half as many coon as usual. Seems the numbers just weren't there? O-well
My son and I start Monday for a week of water trapping for rats. I haven't done any scouting yet will do that Saturday. I have notice that there seems to be more rat houses than the past few years? I usually set bank slides not house because that is where everyone else runs to.
We had fairly stable water levels most this summer. So maybe the rats had a chance to get a couple litters off that didn't drown?
Guess we won't know till the first check on Tuesday. I do know that with all the coon talk I'm going to try to plug in at least a couple coon sets too. I usually just set for rats when I'm on the river and take the couple coon that blunder into those sets. We'll see
