Vangaurd 300 wtby mag
« on: October 31, 2008, 02:15:00 PM »
I shot my Vangaurd today for the first time. It is a Deluxe 300 wby mag NWTF gun of the year, I will have to say that it is the best shooting rifle out of the box that I have ever had. I put a Burris Fullfeild 2 4.5 x 14with b-plex reticle on it. With factory Remington 180 gr. core-loct lot # R300WB1 at 100 yds. it shot a .56 in group, 200 yds. it shot a .52 in group and at 300 yds it shot an 1.23 in. group with a pretty stout cross wind (all 3 shot groups).
After I have read the other post on here I guess I got lucky and got one of a few shooters. I was going to work a load for it but it likes those rounds really well. I am going to try to find a place where I can stretch it out to 600 yds and see how it does.

I have the same gun. Extremely accurate after floating the barrel. It has taken moose, caribou and deer using the 180 gr barnes TSX bullet. Excellent gun for the money. It competes with my friends custom Hart 300 win. Mag.

I'm thinking of gettin the .257 weatherby. Sounds like a great caliber.

I took the 300 hunting, fired 2 shots at whitetails 2 deer down neither took a step. I'm gonna get a load worked up for it and put it up till I can take it Elk hunting.
