Here are som pics of my KongsbergColt mod 1914. It was licenceprodused in Kongsberg(Norway)from 1914.
Norway was in fackt the first country besides US to use this pistol in the army. It's caliber .45ACP of course, in norwgian that means 11,25mm, witch is stamped on the slide. The biggest difference from a US 1911 is the extended slide release. This pistol has also stamped the German eagle on the slide, because the occupation during ww2. This pistol was made in 1945, and the total number prodused this year was 990.
So I belive it's a collectors item.

All the parts are original, and it shoots well, but the trigger is on the havy side....

I had such a slide release years ago. It sat too low for my liking.  Not knowing of its' origin I disposed of it somehow. I do not remember. Very nice collector piece. Well done!!

Now that is a very interesting variation.  I have not seen that design slide release before - seems like it might be pretty handly........... Mikey.

Other than a collector's piece how would you describe the condition for shooting--if you decided too.

The pistol works fine, no mailfunctions at all, and the barrel looks like new inside. Slide/frame fit is good, with a little more movement up/down than sideways. I have seen much newer 1911 with much more play in slide/frame fit. I have shoot about 200 rounds with the gun, including a match where we use ww2 weapon, which I buy the way, won
 I haven't tried shooting it from sandbags, but from a twohand hold, I can manage about 3" groups from 25m.(about 28yds) The heavy trigger and the primitive sights makes it difficult to shoot any better.I'll guess the trigger breaks at 10 pounds. And the hammer bites my hand, so after 50-60 rounds I beginns to feel it's nature..

American Rifleman had a write up on this model a month or two back. Very interesting, and a nice find.
I actually saw, and handled one two weeks ago at a gun show in Allentown PA.  I think it was priced at about $1100 if memory serves, but it was not produced during Nazi occupation.

I was browsing the Sarco Inc. website earlier this week and saw that they have a Norwegian Slide Stop listed under the 1911 parts.  There is no picture, so I can't tell if its the same, but you would think it would be.

I think it was in the American Rifleman that they stated that the Norwegians still have the complete tooling and ran off a batch about twenty years ago.
With the 1911 so popular, they should start it up again.

Olav, I had one of those back in the 70s, was a good shooter.  I still remember the serial # was 14100 and every part had the last 3 digets 100 on them.  I think I bought it for a $100 and sold it for $175.  Prices were different in those days.
