Editing programs ??????????
« on: August 10, 2003, 03:37:21 AM »
Two computers back I had downloaded Paint Shop Pro as a freebe and no, I didn't send them money for using it past 30 days, I know, shame on me.  Their newer versions really do quit working after 30 days. :(    I just can't get done what I want to do with the editing program that came with the computer, so I guess it's time to brake down and spend money.   What are you using?  Is it's use fairly intuitive, or is the instruction manual being handy necessary?  Are you happy with it?  Is it worth what you paid?  Would you make the same purchase again, or would you look for something else?

BF -

I've been using PSP for years, its easy to use and it does anything I need done.   Use to run several CAD programs, Corel Draw, PhotoShop and a bunch of other job specific applications... got tired of trying to keep up with all their updates/versions.    When I retired I didn't need all the bells and whistles anymore anyway, so just settled on PSP.   I mostly only use it for cropping digital or scanned images or to make certificates and such nowdays.   My 'need' for graphics programs has all but gone away.   I do most of my 'painting' now with the wildcats anyway, and their favorite color is red.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I'm not sure what you want to do but I find Irfanview, a shareware program, to be a great viewer/image manipulation program.

With it you can crop, resize, re-format, contrast and color enhance, annotate, and much more than I can describe here. It also reads and writes most every format including not only graphic formats but multimedia and audio.

I have PhotoShop 5.0, I think it is, but hardly ever use it.  I paid $40 for Adobe Photo Deluxe Home Edition which I use for most of my photo editing.  PD can do everything I usually need and is very user friendly.  I think the program is no longer available from Adobe.
