Rate of twist tables by manufacturer
« on: November 01, 2008, 06:13:26 PM »
Somewhere, some time ago, I ran across a pretty comprehensive chart that indicated the rates of twist used by various manufacturers for different cartridges they chambered rifles in.  I just can't find it now, and I don't know if it was in Brownells, on the web, in a rifle book or where.  Chuck Hawks does have a table suggesting a rate of twist for various cartridges on his website; but that is not what I am looking for as different manufacturers use different twists, and some have more than one selection for the same cartridge, such as the .223 Rem. for optimizing different bullets.

Does anybody know which chart I am looking for, and where I might find it?  Any help appreciated!  Thanks.

I have the old #11 Speer reloading manuel and it has a good twist table in it but it was printed in 91. Its the best twist table I've ever come across. Perhaps the newer manuel has a updated version. Dave

I was just sitting in my gun room brousing through my Sierra loading manual and ran across just the type of table you were talking about!   :o  Seemed pretty comprehensive to me!   :)

Found these 2 sites with rate of twist charts.  Had another but can't seem to locate it in my bookmarks.
