Got one yesterday
« on: November 02, 2008, 10:33:20 AM »
I got a doe on the opener of muzzle loader yesterday. About a 100 lb doe. 150 yards with my Encore. This is the third MZ opener in a row that I've gotten a doe. Yes, I am a little proud of myself. Anybody that says the Shockwave bullet doesn't expand is crazy! Bore sized entrance and a little over golfball sized exit through the ribs. Looks like the freezer gets a little restocking. ;D I hope everyone did as well or better.

Congrats! Killed a management buck around 12:00 yesterday. Didn't see a doe. They didn't move at all. And here I was planning on killing 3 does & a buck. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

Congrats to TN JIM, you did better than I did, saw nothing the 4 times I've been out this week. I live out in the country and we have a little land. Last night my wife got home at 4.0pm, we sat on our back deck. Next thing sounded like the Kentucky Derby in the woods behind us. We grabbed our ML's and sat close to the woods. They were going crazy in there but didn;t come out. Based on my experience of the last few years, that is the sound of a buck chasing a doe. With the cold front moving in tonight, it's looking good for the weekend.

Thanks guys. The doe I shot was with two others and they came out in the last 15 minutes of daylight. I didn't see or hear a thing until then. Heard several shots fired in the early a.m. but dead all evening. I always try to take a doe during MZ season. We are up to our eyes in them and the bucks are like hens teeth. Did the lower temps help out? Today looks like a good day to go here in East Tn. Good luck and good hunting to you all!!
