First Deer with Mzlloader this year
« on: November 03, 2008, 03:03:20 AM »
With the TN muzzleloader season opening this Saturday, I was fortunate to harvest a descent 7 point with my TC Omega.  Hunting in the afternoon, the buck came out to a greenfield and was about 75 yards away.  One shot, a high double lung shot, did the trick.  However, there was no blood trail for about the first 40 yards.  The deer only went about 70 yards total.  I was using 100 grs 777 with the 50 cal cheap shot sabot.  About a quarter size entrance hole, and a 50 cent piece exit hole.  No complaints on that performance.  Even though I had my digital camera with me, I forgot to take any pics.  Inside spread of horns was 14 ", deer was 2.5 yrs old per the Game warden who checked it in.  Weight estimated to be about 150 lbs.
I plan to hunt this Friday and Saturday in hopes of a nice fat doe.
