I remember when I was a kid finding, Copperheads in the hayloft in the barn. My Grandparents lived in great copperhead habitat they killed one or two a week, during the summer some times more. Have seen people jump off ladders when they found Copperheads on the ladder as they climbed it. Often times getting hurt.
I had two close calls with Copperheads, that was enough. Glad we only have snow snakes in Alaska. I usually get bit twice a year. (For the uninformed, when we slip and fall, and get laid up for a couple of days. We call that "Getting bit by the Snow Snake"). There is no real snakes in Alaska.
