I was just down stairs last night milling through all my options on rifles etc. Thinking about my "style" of hunt this year. As I will spend a large amount of time in stand or ground blind just waiting and watching I chose the Rossi in .308 fo rhtis job. With my 3x9x50 sitting atop and my 1" consistency I am ready to go. I don't feel a second shot would be beneficial. I'll try and make sure I do it right the first time.
Back up guns (I always bring extra of course) are still in a toss up situation. I thought about the SKS M as a brush basher -- when you have a 30 yd shot, then decided that there is no sense beating up a SKS M and was htinking of the Saiga in 7.62x39 and then thought why not the .308 Saiga? Not sure but I do like to bring a Semi auto for "close quarters" snappy shots. Either that or a 12 Gauge slugger--single shot of course
So in a nutshell I promise to sit with my Rossi as my #1 Lineup this year. Might make it the .270 but .308 is first choice. I might turn out some 130 grainers for it but will most likely stick to my 150's which have grouped so well. At he close range I anticipate maybe I should do a few 180's instead? I'm sure not worried about the "drop". I have some 110 Hornadys which are sure flat shooters in the Rossi! All are fire formed of course and labeled for the rifle.
ANyone else beside MrBigTexan hunting with their Rossi singles?
