« on: November 04, 2008, 10:27:20 AM »
any opinions on this round?? Would it be light recoil with fair range in an encore pistol format or is it a waste of time guys?? Is this round gonna be around long??
Thanks,

I wasn't very impressed with it. I like the tcu cartridges better. I believe it was designed to fit and feed an ar 15. Since then the 6.5 grendel has come out and is quite a bit more suited for deer sized game.
Btw, yes it is light recoil. IMO there are better rounds out there for an encore.
As far as longevity, time will tell, it is supposed to be a better solution for an entry rifle( more knock down than a 223).

I have one on a Contender with a 23" barrel.  very accurate and extremely light recoil..the 6.8 is an ideal cartridge for someone who is recoil sensitive to recoil..it compares greatly to a .243 with a 80 grain bullet.  Mine likes the 110 grain Hornady bullets and Benchmark or 2230 Accurate powder.

There are several companies that build rifles in this caliber. The 6.8 SPC will be around for a long time.
