Just back from the range...
« on: November 05, 2008, 07:02:32 AM »
Got my problematic Omega X7 back from the gunsmith on Monday and made it out today.  Shot 12 rds of Traditions APB 200 250 grs and Scorpion PT 260grs before I charged a Shockwave E-Z load with out powder with no plug wrench!  The smith wouldn't pillarblock it as he said there wasn't enough wood, but glass bedded it instead.  This gun went from 4-5" group at 50 (as far as I can bench shoot here) to <1" (one ragged large hole)with the scorpions.  APB's shot 3/4X1 1/2".  This was with 80gr of Pyro RS.  At 90 they started to open up (less so with the scorpions).  I think I found THE bullet for my gun, just need to confirm 100+ yd terminal ballistcs with 80-90gr Pyro charge (will it open up?).  Any one use this bullet on deer yet?  I would also strongly recommend any one with an Omega to bed it!  These stocks fit the action so sloppy it's not acceptable to me.  Maybe I got a bad one, but that would be 2 in a row, highly unlikely!  Looking forward to reports on this bullet.  Thanx.
