Are we men or mice?
« on: November 05, 2008, 12:57:18 PM »
I come to the site and this forum everyday.  I don't agree with some and agree with others.  Over the last few weeks I have noticed a tone with many of the topics.  Sure, I know the president we wanted elected did not.  We are facing a new government with different values than most here.  Worst of all we are seeing a economy that most, if not all, have never seen.

I truely believe even with all of the worries in front of us we need to take the high road.  I am reading too much of the sky is falling.  We will make it through this, just dig in.  I think McCain said it right that Obama is our president and we must work to get our voice.

wareagleguy you are absolutely correct. Why borrow trouble? The dems have been after our guns forever. This is nothing new. Lets calm down, take a deep breath and see what happens.

I agree with you Dee.   :o

Obama made a lot of promises to America.  Quite frankly I believe he bit off more than he can chew and will soon discover that it is easier said than done.  Any and all discussions about the new administration should be handled in a calm factual manner.  Keep emotion out of it as much as you can - the majority of the votes cast yesterday were emotional.  People were so disgusted with President Bush that it didn't matter what the alternative was as long as it wasn't Republican.  The mid-term elections will give conservatives (Independent and Republican) an opportunity to reclaim representation in both the House and Senate.  I just hope some nut job doesn't do anything stupid with a firearm.

I think we should all calm down and see what happens next. Give Obama a chance. It's like when the rapist has a knife to the woman's throat and is dragging her to the bed. All she can do is wait, hope, and try to convince herself "Maybe it won't be that bad"... :P :P :P

That has been my theology all along. Know one really knows this guy, they can only speculate, and there has certainly been a lot of that. There has been so much hysteria lately that the scenarios have gotten outlandish, and the guy hasn't even taken office yet. These threads at times sound like a soap opera dooms day version of Red Dawn. He was not my pick but, Americans picked him whether everyone likes him or not. If he fails so does America. Everyone needs to take a chill pill, and hope the guys does a good job. Like him or not, he is the new president.

True enough to all of that, but there is a difference to big to ignore. He is more Liberal than the worst Dem ever & the present Congress is the most radical left wing ever. So yes, no advantage really to not calming down because we can't change what happened last nite & why not take a deep breath, but we need to have the realization that
the potential for this occuring is MUCH higher, so at least be vigilant.

Good post, wareagelguy. Mr. Obama was not my choice either, but he was chosen by the majority of Americans. We need to respect that. I am a die hard conservative; however, I refuse to be a part of the reaction to the cynicism that the media has spread throughout our society.  Instead, I pray that God will guide Mr. Obama to serve His will, not ours.

What potential?  Obama and his henchmen have already stated unequivocably what their agenda is.  I wonder how many remember the last times we had a liberal Democrat with a large majority of Dems in Congress.  How about LBJ in 1967 that resulted in the Gun Control Act of 1968?  And the Clinton administrations Brady Bill?   Does anyone think after the SCOTUS decision that different gun laws won't be enacted under the Obama administration and get passed?  If one does you only fool yourself.  Wait until this Congress re enacts the Fairness Doctrine that limits and mandates equal time regardless of cost to all types of media.  It was law for many years and repealed under Reagan.  The Dems would dearly love to have this law back in places to shut down the conservative talk programs and dissidents as not being fair and balances reporting.  What happened to the NRA ads opposing Obama in PA?  His campaign refused to place ads and intimated that they would cause trouble for them through the FCC.  The same happened in FL with Barbara West.  The same happened with the news reporters traveling on his plane until their newspapers endorsed McCain and he kicked them off.  Am I the only one to see his blatant abuse of power and influence in the rights of Americans?   And people are today on GBO attempting to persuade everyone to keep calm and take a position of none action and wait and see attitude.  You wait and see.  I am going to cause everything I can legally do, to destroy this man's policies and future political role along with those in Congress that support him.  If necessary, I will become his Cindy Sheehan.

Then by all means deltecs. Go into panic mode with some of the others it you feel it will help. Soap opera type drama if nothing else, can be entertaining. Everyone is pretty much aware of all you just said, and have been for quite some time. The fact of the matter is, he won the election AND the popular vote. It is the first election in eight years that went undisputed.
I didn't want him and didn't vote for him, but a whole bunch of Americans obviously did.
You went all the way back to LBJ on gun control, so why didn't you list McCain's voting record on the Clinton Assault weapons ban, or his stance on gun shows, or the fact he ran in 2000 as anti-2nd Amendment, and voted 73% of the time anti-2nd Amendment for 26 years. McCain's past and present tendencies got him beat. Apparently a majority of the American voters saw something they did not like.
No one is telling anyone to be non-pro-active that I am aware of. If you have an angle on Obama, then by all means carry on. None here will try to stop you.

Dee, this is not panic mode.  This an attempt to comply with my convictions.  You have yours with third parties that will solve all Americas problems and voted as such according to you.  So I am following my convictions that this man is much worse than Bush and will attempt and probably succeed in seizing our firearms rights.   If it doesn't unite Americans, so be it.  Obama then will not be able to say he is the messiah to unite them with his non partisan policies.  He had his chance with me on his campaign trail and his voting record.

deltecs you are preaching to the choir on Obama. No one here has defended him. When he has actually pushed thru almost a trillion dollar bail out for wall street, then I will consider him as bad as Bush, whom by the way I voted for twice. Bush pushed thru the Patriot Act AND Socialized Banking all in 8 short years. He has definitely turned Socialist in a HUGE way.
I of all people believe that a person should always follow their convictions. I do. He will seize your guns only if you hand them over. AND, he has yet to ask but, granted he might.
Someone suggested vigilance, and it was a good suggestion.

How soon we forget. Guys I don't believe there will be another chance. This guy is more dangerous than anything that has ever happen. You keep whining about him being an socialist oh that were the concern. I'd sleep well at night and not worry about it as most in politics these days are. That's NOT what this guy is about folks.

He is a muzlim and has lied about it and likely will continue until Jan. 21 when he will show his true colors. Did none of you actually read and heed this:

Quote
The following is a narrative taken from Sunday Morning's
televised "Meet The Press'. The author is employed by none other than the Washington Post!!

From Sunday's 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, Televised "Meet the Press" Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag.

General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain WHY he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

The General also stated to Obama that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171...

During rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Or, at the very least, "Stand and Face It".

Senator Obama replied:

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides". "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression."

"The anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all that sort of thing."

ARE YOU READY FOR THIS???

Obama said: "The National Anthem should be 'swapped' for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing'. If that were our anthem, then, I might salute it. In my opinion, we should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as 'redesign' our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we, as a Nation of waring people, conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam where peace prevails - - - perhaps a state or period of mutual accord could exist between our governments ."

When I become President, I will seek a pact or
agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice which is WHY my Wife disrespects the Flag and she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past".

"Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put my hatred aside. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path. My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First black Family. Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America "

Basically GB, all that is being said here is: Obama has been elected. That fact is something that cannot be changed. All we can do at this point is watch and see what happens. There is nothing anyone can do, until we see where he intends to go first. What else would you suggest?

I personaly think that it is all we can do at this point... then when you see that the elevator is going down real fast and dont seem to be slowing... wait till that very last second and then jump so the impact wont be so bad... ::) no but really I dont see much that we can do other than ride it out as long as we can and see what comes of it... obama, asteriod or global thermonuclear war hell it is only 4 years till 2012 and it all goes to hell in a hand basket anyway... so I say just lets try to make it till 2013 and if we do we can go from there.

I would not dare to let my guard down. All the BS about supporting the new prez...is just crape to me. I don't trust him given his RECORD!

Now is the time to be concerned, not calm down. That to me sounds too close to giving him a pass. We have a FAR LEFT WING LIBERAL Democrate controlled Senate, House of Representatives and President.

Their already talking about the Fairness Doctine Legislation. Good God!!!

This crew is going to jamb all sorts of crap down our throats and they have near full licence to do it from the majority of stupid Americans.

Largest turn out in 50 years---a good thing.
We sat on our butts--we didn't do what was necessary.
We were apathetic.
We lost because we didn't vote---as usual.
We can turn this around. In the next congressional elections do something too help--don't just cry.

I and my wife always vote. My wife worked for the McCain campaign after he was nominated. I gave money, my wife and I went door to door passing out flyer's, knocking on doors, and making hundreds and hundreds of phone call from our home phone and from a local McCain campaign HQ here in our area.

This was the most important election in the history of this country. We just came to a Y in the the American story and we went hard left instead of right.

cabin4, you are correct on the importance of this election, and the turn made was indeed "hard left". I for one did not miss the obvious. However, the candidate was weak from the beginning, and had been in the past. McCain never generated any real base. Not even in 2000. He this time, was all that was left and YOUR fellow Americans didn't want him. My state backed him as did others, but his boat was full of holes, and many states turned from red to blue.

I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again. Yeah I hope to hell I'm wrong but I'm not and you'll all see soon enough. You just really do not understand what just happened. Oh yeah it's gonna soon enough become clear but by then it's already gonna be too late. The system is BROKEN. The country did not just elect a socialist. It just elected a black supremist and a muzlim. The repercussions of that will very soon become apparent.

Frightening as it may be to some, GB seems to be one of only a few who understands.  This is NOT a battle between political parties and anyone who believes differently needs to remove the blinders and look around.  This is a black supremest muzlim that was elected by his peers and the ignorant for the benefit of the lazy and uneducated in this country and his financial benefactors abroad.

I had never read this and find it hard to understand why McCain wouldn't have used these quotes and/or tape on every commercial and/or ad he ran during the campaign.  After further checking, I found this:

According to the website for Meet the Press (the following links), the last time Obama was on Meet the Press was July 27, 2008. Bill Ginn wasn’t on the show. You can even read the transcripts of all of their shows with these links.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25872804/ - The full transcript of Barack’s last appearance on Meet the Press

After reading the transcript and searching for any link to the quotes you posted above, I couldn't find anything.

I'd love to read the whole interview for myself, would it be possible for you to post a link?

Thanks.

I believe in the statement that the 2 parties are out of it, WE have a Muslim
president, and that is a big problem.
I also think that to jump up and start some kind of rebellion at this time will get
only scorn and jail time.
IMHO we need to let him make some kind of move, if he makes the one we believe he will we will have lots of people on our side.
Right now all he has done is get elected their would be very little support
from anyone at this point. He will lay out his plans soon enough.
