I shot my Disc Extreme yesterday about 10 times and then cleaned it. I shot 100 grains of FF 777 loose powder, regular Winchester 209 primers, along with "cheap shot" sabots (my buddy hasn't delivered my REAL's yet). My groups at 50 yards are about 1 inch. At 100 yards I admit, I can hardly see my target in the sights. My groups at 100 yards are about 5 inches, but I don't think I am physically capable of shooting better than that with iron sights. I didn't remember how tough it was to see and shoot targets with iron sights... Felt like I was going blind...
At any rate, I am satisfied with the gun's performance and must confess that I didn't swab between shots, but it did fine. I cleaned the gun "thoroughly" last night. My questions relate to cleaning the gun, I watched the old VHS video that came with it, but still have some "real world" questions:
1) I didn't realize this gun would have so much "blowback". The soot is blown all over the exterior of the bolt and probably all inside the bolt head. I cleaned off what I could, and dipped the bolt in cleaning solution to try and rinse out what was possible without dissasembly (I know stainless is not RUSTLESS). Do I need to do more in regards to stripping the bolt apart, everything else is perfectly clean.
2) Do the T/C guns have this much blowback?
3) If I hadn't cleaned the gun yesterday, what is the maximum amount of time I should let pass without cleaning it (assuming I shoot 777)?
4) Assuming I cleaned the gun yesterday and load it today to hunt, and I don't fire it - - - How long could I leave it loaded without hurting the gun (rest of season?)
Thank ya'll for your help. I am very happy with my gun.
