Target panic

Has anyone had this problem and how did you get rid of it. Any info would be helpful.

#1. get close to a butt target (like 5 ft) draw, aim, and   then close your eyes  and shoot.  Do it over and over.  Feel the bow, the release and the follow through.

#2. if you are getting panic shooting at a bullseye, aim just below it . . so your pin is just below the bull. I shot for years with my pins set this way and it worked great.

Target panic is your brain freaking out wanting to get rid of the arrow, but out of control.  

#3. Draw the arrow back, aim, and then let down.  Make sure you control the release, not your emotions.  Do it one out of every 2 shots.

Target panic takes a while to get over, but if you do these things and practice them for a couple of weeks . . . and then keep going back to them occaisionally to keep your brain honest you should see great improvement.  There are no magic pills or quick fixes.  It takes time and effort.  STick to it and good luck.

shoot natural, don't let it bother you.  Don't let yourself think you have to hit the bull every time to be good. It's all in the head.  
I think you are concentrating too hard!!

I'm a believer bow shooting is 90% mental and 10% equipment.  This target panic thing is all in your head, so empty it!  I have had the same problem and am always aware that on any given shot I can panic.  To get over my problems, this is what I did.  Shoot only when you are relaxed, not all stressed out just home from work.  Shoot by yourself, don't have someone watching over your shoulder putting preasure on you.  Turn on your radio - real loud! - sing along or whistle, but have fun.  Man, I hope the deer where I hunt like OLDIES.   :)  Jim

I just read an article in Bowhunt America, a free magazine that I got at Gander Mountain. The articles dealt with release techniques for better shooting. One of them that really helped me literally overnight was this one. Adjust the release length to fit the release lever, into the first groove in your trigger finger. When you draw the bow, instead of "pulling the trigger", rest your trigger finger on the release trigger, and concentrate on aiming. Move your release elbow slightly to the rear, in an arc toward your center of your back, to release the arrow. This helps punching the trigger, and target panic. This works just fine for me, I won't be changng THAT technique...has this one been around for a while? I would recommend this for those that haven't tried it...
I posted this some time ago, I don't worry about my old target panic anymore, it deals with what I was doing...good luck! :D

To get around target panic get a release that will  release on both the pull and relaxe type system
 that will tell you that   you are haveing target panic. Then do as I have seen posted, put,your finger deep into the release  lever until you can use the  pulling bach of your shoulder  to release   thje arrow! don't mind the spelling as I  Have had a few  drinks. I am at home as I would never jepordise my commercial license to drive.
