In this tight nit and close community if they start coming around we will hear about it.  That's when we just quietly fade into the bush.  Doubt they would have the expendable manpower to find all of us.  It would be very costly if they tried.  Especially, in the winter.

Sportsman's ran out of powder!  Went in yesterday meaning to buy two more kegs of powder for the 06 and .223.  They are out of those and have very few kegs or smaller cans left.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I understand that if they want to get your guns they will have them. But, if the boss told you to go out and start collecting guns would you do it? You can bet your butt that there will be no Mayors, Aldermen, Congress critters, Police Chiefs,or other officials willing to knock down doors and go house to house Faluja style. That leaves your neighbor the beat cop to do the job, might be he wants to become a truck driver tomorrow, rather than do something that is in direct violation of our Constitution as he reads it and has understood it for 47 yrs. Furthermore how many citizens will the military take out before they say enough is enough and turn around. A government Of By And For The People not of by and for those in charge. That is my hope anyway.

I woke up wednesday morning at 5 AM and ordered everything I needed to reload for all that I have and I went to Walmart and bought 950 rounds of 22LR. I don't think they will try to take guns initially but will try to tax us out of business on ammo. I don't doubt for a minute that they want to take our guns though.
I would rather have ammo than not have it if I need it. It might not be available at some point in the future.

They have been out of powder in Anchorage since early last spring.  I tried to buy 8 lbs of imr 4350 and they had only 2 lbs in the entire store.  I bought the last 10 lbs of H 4350 in the store in March.  I bought the other 2 lbs of H 4350 they had on display in April.  They did not have any 4350 in the store since then as I again looked in Sept and none available.  Primers were almost non existent, bullet selection was terrible.  I had to go around to several gun stores and buy bullets and primers.  All the stocks were low and not much variety anywhere.

Different day, same paranoia.  Considering the problems with the economy and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Obama's plate will be pretty much filled for his first term.  I can imagine some limited military ammo ban as a sop to the anti-gun crowd, but serious gun-control measures would likely come in the second administration.  In the meantime, there will be two House elections, and two-thirds of the Senators will have to stand for re-election.  The party in power is vulnerable in mid-term elections if things have not been going well, so if you want to forestall any bans, now is a good time to start work on the 2010 elections.

Oldtimer, are you saying that some of these guys with their revoluntionary statements, and phobic claims of stockpileing munitions, that the ATF will not have time to check into them? I believe Obama or any other president for that matter, has plenty of help to take a look at folks whom make irrational claims of needing to "load up for a coming American armagedon".

I would like to purchase a few thousand rounds of .223 and perhaps a couple thousand rounds of 7.62x39 but I can't find a co-signer to help me with this!!!!! (Williamlayton, can you help me out so I will be a well armed citizen?) ::) ::) ;D

Serously, ammo and guns are going out of site, I recently purchase AR lower receivers for $109. each, today that same receiver is running about $190.  (Thanks to the election of Yamamma.)  The same for ammo, I was looking at a receipt for a case (1000 rounds) of Wolf brand .223 I purchased about a year and half ago, it was $129. out the door (about 2.50 a box)  today that same case of ammo will sell for near $300. and we can expect it go even higher.

But it is not just ammo.........we are starting to look like a pre-WW II Germany when a loaf of bread was 1000DM.

No doubt!  I buy pretty much the same thing at the grocery stores every week.  As compared to about a year ago, I am spending an average of $50 to $75 more a week for the same groceries.  I have long since quit buying brand names, but if I did that amount would go up considerably.  It saddens me that a gal of milk is almost double the price of a gal of gas.

I've been in law enforcement for awhile. In my rural area every officer I dealt with was pro gun for law abiding citizens. For the last few years I have worked for the NSA. I am sad to say the majority of federal officers I have spoken to are anti gun for the law abiding citizen. I am not trying to make a blanket statement. Just an observation of conversations.

I don't think half the guys that say that kind of thing would actually make a stand and use their house as the alamo.  Guys that say that kind of stuff are usually the ones who have a great excuse about everything.  Thanks for being a cop by the way.  You guys are alright with me.

And this is what I heard.
Apparently Obama announced he was going to implement the Clinton gun ban as soon as he gets in office. I didn't hear it but one of my guys said it was on the news this morning. I hope all the gun guys that voted for him heard that. I have had at least 4 or 5 of these guys that are big gun owners (and who voted for Obama) tell me he said he wouldn't do anything against the 2nd amendment and he wasn't going to put any new gun bills out, just enforce the old ones. Well, guess what, he lied.

anybody who voted for obama and thinks he dont want guns out of our hands is sadly mistaken.it is true he has a lot on his plate and may not git to it in 4 yrs.however, one must only look at countries with a similar history as ours to see what is going to eventually happen.its not pretty. canada and australia come to mind.young countries that started as we did with democratic systems but now are borderline socialist.with gun laws as yu would expect.oh back to the subject at hand, heck yes im stocking up.against my better judgement i just paid 40 buks for 25 lbs of no 4 shot. dont regret it much tho as the bigger shot is hard to find around here.i thought it mite be good for homestead life. good for all furry small game and larger intruders at close range.got to pik up a couple thou 22 rounds and a few lbs of powder and primers and im good to go for next 20 yrs with whatall else i got.

Dee, I am not ignoring your statement, we have had some cloudy weather and the satelite dish doesn't work under those conditions.  Actually, my paranoia goes in a different direction.  I bought six boxes of .30-06 for my new Remington 740 and used my credit card.  In addition, I used my customer loyalty card.  There are two sources of information that will be sold or traded.  When I send in my rebate form, a third will be added.  So much is known about us on the open market already, it will take no effort for the government to plug into it, especially since it now owns a share of a lot of banks.  If you did not throw it away, read your bank's privacy statement.  They can share information about you with any business partner, which used to mean anyone who could hand money over the counter.  Now it includes Uncle Sugar.   We sold ourselves out some time ago.  Now we are like a  flock of turkeys, waiting to see who gets the hatchet first.

Of course, I could be wrong.  It happened once before, in '63, I think. ;)

 Oldtimer;
As the news media is telling us, the guns and ammo are being sold out around the whole country..don't expect they will get the FBI after the 06s you bought or the bulk box of .22s I bought either.
