The only place to get a matching smooth camo laminated forend is H&R, Brownell's only sells checkered.

i thought there was a problem with these separating under heavy recoil.  i researched these and there were some issues last year.  figured that is why the price is so low.  any who i think i will look closer to the gun stock inc version

I think that's bogus, they're factory issued on the 12ga Ultra Slug guns, I have one on my SS 45-70 shooting 300gr Ruger loads at over 2300fps from a LeadSled, it works just fine. Only one person has ever posted about a broken t-hole,  it appeared to be broken from a sideways impact to me.  ::)

Ordered mine on Wed, in my hands Fri!   ;D  The matching forends are back ordered at H&R, on Friday they said it was "overdue" so it should be in soon.  I am not holding my breath, but not upset either.  I sent an email to one of the sponsors as they sell a matching laminated forend with a target/varmint profile.  It will be mind if they have it in stock.  (pun not intended)

I thoroughly inspected my stock, and found the ONLY issue to be a small chip from the bit that cut the bolt counter-sink hole.  Was mounted with a Pachmayr Decelerator, which made me smile.

  I just placed my order. I guess I came back here just in time. My order went through, then when I clicked Tim's link it took me back and they showed "out of stock." I hope I got the last one.

  I just saw one of those in use Friday at the range.

   Dang it... I just had an ugly thought. Does anyone know if that stock comes with the mounting screw? That would be pure torture to havew a nice stock like that sitting in the corner with no way to attach it.

My link was one I bought a few weeks ago which was a great deal, there was only one as far as I know since the markings in the pic are the same that was on the stock when I received it. This new link that mrbgt posted is a fantastic deal if the irregularity is as minor as was on mine!!  8)

Looks like the mounting bolt is shown in the picture, sure hope it comes with it. Anybody know what bolt size they take in case it doesn't with it?

I bought the same unit on the classified from a member here.  The bolt has a hex socket type, w/o washer, so since it's a common thread, if it doesn't, then should be pretty easy to locate in hardware store.   I would expect it to be there.  Mine had a Pachmeyer recoil pad, which is what appears to be on this also.  I placed an order today also, so will see what happens.

Wow, I'm wondering why they raised the price on this. I bought the same item a few weeks ago from Boyd's for about $60 for a sterling one? I have a forend coming from Brownells and hope it matches -g

Mine came with the bolt from Boyd's.  If you need the specifications let me know, and I will pull mine out and get some measurements.

All stock bolt and screw sizes are listed in the FAQs, I've ordered 4 t-hole stocks from Boyds, 3 came with the bolt, 1 didin't. It's a 3/8-24x2" button socket head, don't plan on buying one locally, they ain't easy to find, but a regular socket head will work too.

My next project will be to find a cheap factory second left handed thumbhole for a bolt action gun and do some woodworking to make it fit a handi.

Only if you own an 870!! ::) H&R stocks are preferred here and they usually have Decelarator pads which is a big plus considering the pads alone cost almost as much as some of the stocks!! ;D

Well i just ordered the forestock from brownells which they had in stock
I was thinking the thumbhole stock set up and the upgraded recoil pad on the Boyd's set -up should tame the recoil .I like my Cinnamon stock on the SB2 frame but will see how I like the thumbhole set up before I part with the cinnamon stock.
