Never saw a new Vic...what were they supposed to develop?
I have used tons of vics in the past, but for me they just don't do anything that another trap won't due for @ less money,or b)a little more quality at not much more $.
I am doing a 5 yr program on trap durability out-of-the-box,availability of mod parts, cost of mod parts, and simplicity of modifications. This will be an inclusive test of non-specific traps,as I feel "testing" the Jake,Sterling,CDR,etc,is moot;what I am testing is "Joe " traps that the average weekend trapper would buy.
I am also testing pullout strength(hydraulic pull on closed jaws)and recording the ft/lbs(no pun intended)required to de-jaw or severely deform the baseplate.I can comfortably state that trappers will be stunned at the strength reqired to de-jaw even an old vic jump.
I can't(and won't)post anymore on the study,but if anyone has a specific question,try my e-mail and if I can talk,I will.
Once finished,I plan to have it published, but I won't accept a dime for it.This is something I want to do for trappers, whether weekenders or longliners, and I don't want the question of priority to come in.
