Differences in the 5/8" and 7/8" breech plugs. PICS

Just thought some might want to see the two different breech plugs side-by-side. Obviously the 5/8" is on the left and the 7/8" on the right. The 5/8" plug measures 1.400", and the 7/8" measures 1.255" in length. The 5/8" plug had to be lengthened so it would have enough meat to accomodate the primer carriers diameter and depth. This may help owners that are not sure what they have for ordering a .25 ACP plug. Tim might want a pic for the stickies?

Your welcome. I just love these rifles, but wish someone would come out with a better breech plug for them. Probably going to have to make them myself though.

 Let me add my thanks for the prose AND the pics! Your coverage of the NEF  ML problems has been very helpful to me and started me working towards the same goal. I especially like the near perfect, life-size ,high quality pics. For sure, a thousand words worth each. Toby Bridges called the NEF  MLs breechplug the worst of all and I have asked him to describe the best features of the best plugs and it doesn't seem to be that difficult for a machinist to fabricate a compilation of the best characteristics of the top plugs. I would like to see a breakdown of the dimensions of each of the stages from primer, [a subject in itself] thru the flash tubes, channels,tapers, flash-holes  and powder pockets. A recent trial of  shortened .244 Rem cases with  Lg. rifle primers had good results. How would a Win. .243 case with less taper work? Power comparisons of the various 209s as well as a couple of Sm. rifle primers should have the .244 system added to it. I couldn't find any Lg. pistol -primed ammunition to match results with, but I'm not at all knowledgable about them.   Ken
