What firearm do you wish Ruger Made?
« on: December 16, 2002, 06:49:59 AM »
Ok fellas I am back from my go around with the flu.  I hope no one else gets it.  I would like to get the forum rocking and rolling so here we go.
I dont know how many of you read Shooting Times. Every year they have letters in there from people wishing gun makers would make a gun they would like to have.  So heres the idea, I think it would be interesting , tell us what kind you would like Ruger to make and why.
I wish they would make the Super Redhawk in 41 Magnum. I hade the chance to buy a standard Redhawk years ago and didnt.. I want it with a 7in barrel .  I would take one in 45 Colt too.
Ok fellas let me know what you guys want too.

Here's an idea for Ruger.  Well, we all know that there's many folks trying to get one of the Stainless Super Blackhawk Hunter 44mag models with the integral scope bases machined into the top of the barrel.  Kind of neat having a single action already setup to accept scope rings, so you could thumb the scope off and use iron sights for finishing game hiding in thick brush.  Okay, so here's my suggestion.  I would like for them to do the same thing to the Stainless Super Single Six 22 convertible.  Make a Hunter version of the 22 Super Single Six.  It would allow you to go back to iron sights very quickly, if so desired.  Also, you wouldn't have to take off your rear sight and replace it with an aftermarket base to put on a scope.  If they did this, it would be great to have both a 44mag Hunter, and a 22lr/22mag Hunter.

What about Ruger making a .480 Ruger or .454 Casull carbine similar to their 44mag carbine.  It would make one fine brush busting machine.  Kind of off the Ruger topic, but I'd also be very interested if either Marlin or Winchester were to make a lever action chambered in either .480 or .454.  Just some ideas!
The intruder turns around slowly, sees both barrels, and hears a low-deep voice say "Son, the left one's iron and the right one's steel, if the left one don't get you, the right one will"

reckon they could make a single shot pistol? maybe similar to a ruger # 1 with a falling block action. that would be a bad dude. maybe reasonably priced too.

I like the idea of the single six.  I have always wanted one but never seem to get around to it.  Maybe I need to try harder to get  me one.  The number 1 pistol idea is cool too.  Id take one in the stainless model 14 in barrel in 6.5x55.  That would be too cool.  If not on a number 1 mabe a number 3 action.

Well, hmmmm.

First, I wish for a 22 rimfire in the Ruger No. 1.  Either a scaled down version (though not cheapened) or just adapt the No.1 A.

Maybe bring back the No. 3 in 38-55 and/or 32-20 or 32 H&R chamberings.

How about the M77 safari in the new H&H chamberings (especially the 400)?

Bring the Gold Label out in 16 gauge.

Make a run of Bisley's in the 500 Linebaugh.

Make an adjustable sighted single six in 32-20.

Lastly, improve their factory products.  Maybe better wood to metal fit, finer tuned actions and actually set the triggers at the factory so they can be used in the field without having to invest more time and money into a gun just to get them to shoot.

Ruger is my favorite manufacturer of the top 4 or 5, but they could stand some improvements.

Guess of all of it, I had rather see Ruger improve their existing products through greater functionality and closer tolerances than I had to see new products or features.

  I want a blackhawk in .32-20, a single six in .22 hornet (if taurus can make a raging hornet, ruger can make an awesome single six), and a Super Blackhawk in 41 mag with 10" barrel for silhouette shooting.

Ruger, are you listening?  Bill is, and I KNOW he is agreeing with me!

small framed bisley in .44 special and .41 mag and .41 special. A large framed .475 and .500 bisley and add to that a 5 shot .45 colt. Lever action in .475 and .500 and a no. 3 in those same calibers. Also like to see them bring back the .250 savage in the 77 and No. 1 internationals

Their inventory begs for a lever action and bolt action in 45 Colt.  How many of us use that vaunted caliber in the Black Hawk.  They would make great companions.

Ruger seems to champion calibers that alot of gun makers dont, I have a Ruger 77R in 250-3000 and 257 Roberts not many of the big companies chamber them today unless you want to pay BIG MONEY, I also have a 77R in 6MM Remington another caliber that is falling by the wayside, a buddy has a 77R in 7X57, I would like to see Ruger come out with a 222.

:D I would sell the little lady ( and kick in some to boot) for a Gold lable 28 ga. sized down like Ruger did with the Red Lable.

A mini-14 in 243 or 7mm-08 would be high on my list also.

I would like to see Ruger offer more chamberings. Ruger 77's in WSMs, or how about a Ruger custom shop like Fox Ridge. You could order what was avialable but not standard at a slightly higher price......

I would like to see a No.1 with 30" bbl. in 45-70, also, a No.1 with 28" or 30" bbl. in 35 Whelen. Both of these would be long throated and freebored to allow max. bullet length seating for cast.  Ruger can do this!  And, they should do this IMHO.

I would like to see a few more big bores in their M77 Magnum.  Seeing they already got the .416 Rigby how about the big brother the .450 Rigby.  Power of the .460 Weatherby with less pressure and no belt.  Ruger could also chamber their M77 Express in .450 Marlin.  Everything a .45-70 can do with a stronger case.  And lastly tell the lawyers to go and stick it and bring back an adjustable trigger for their rifles.  Lawdog

:D  Hiya folks

My name is Jim and I own a ruger 77 compact in .260. I am getting back into center fire rifles and am a big Ruger fan.

What I would like to see Ruger do would be...

1.  Offer a semi-custom "custom shop" so that you could order odd chamberings or odd combinations of existing products.  I particularly like the brown laminate stocks but do not like stainless guns. I would like to be able to order a blue #1 with a brown laminate stock or better yet, have them get laminate blanks from Richards Microfit Gunstocks.

2.   I would like to see the #1B chambered in .260 Rem. or 6.5x55 or 6.5WSM or 6.5-06, or 6.5-284.

3.   I would like to be able to order just the action for a #1 with out wood or a barrel.

Jim B.
