Ruger does a great job of giving us a lot of choices and I have several of their existing offerings on my shopping list, so why not add a few more:

Ruger #1 and model 77 in .338-06 or 35 whelen and .358 win!
A #1 / #3 in .375 win.

I like the Ackley Improved caliber idea & 6.5-06 suggestion too!

I would like to see a mini-03A3.  A small Military type stocked bolt .223 that is a smaller version of the 1903A3.  And it could stripper clips to load.

And have an M7 type bayonet lug.

Ruger Wish List
Ruger 77 in Left Hand Short Action, especially a target/varmint model. Also in the new short magnums. A light weight sporter in short action left hand also.
Probably my biggest wish, is they would make the stock on the 10/22-22 magnum and 96/22-17 with the barrel band optional/non existant. A DSP style stock would go a long way to making these a lot more popular. Even if it was a birch stock like the walmart special 10/22 SS rifle that is out now, and the Walnut stock an option.
 A small frame Blackhawk in a 5 shot 44 special with a 4 5/8" barrel.
 A GP100 in SS 44 magnum 5 shot, 3-4" barrel.
 A 96/480 ruger or 96/500 S&W
Oh yeah a 10/17 would be nice, but I would like them to make it using the 24" varmint barrel, like on the 77/17, in polished SS. And put a walnut DSP style ambidextrous stock with a Varmint forend. You know, sort of a Cooper LVT profile.
That's enough for now, if they will just get to working on it. Andy
I've got to edit this to add another, the 77/22, 22mag, 17HMR, and 22 Hornet. Savage is the only manufacturer that really offers anything even close to these in left hand. All of these in left hand would be well received.

Ruger Wish List
« Reply #65 on: July 14, 2003, 03:48:57 PM »
I'd like to see - nay, purchase - 96/308 and 96/444 leverguns.  (Yeah, I know the actions aren't that long. Yet.)

I second the 96/480 - Why that's not out already, I don't know.

And I wish Ruger would start to offer after-market items, such as 10/22 thumbhole stocks, varminter and target barrels for all rimfire rifles, semi-custom stocks for it's 99 carbine and Mini14's, etc.

Guys. Like. Toys.

When I see all the stuff offered for AK's, I can't help but think that Ruger is missing a huge opportunity in several franchises.  (Beretta's polymer system guns are a leap in a fun direction.)  Ruger has some good ideas that could catch fire if they'd only open up the after-market options list.[/b]

How about a stainless 5 shot Bisley in 454 casull, with a 5 1/2 or 7 1/2 inch barrels.

Also, no warnings on barrel.

Heavy caliber semi-auto
« Reply #67 on: August 17, 2003, 12:00:14 PM »
I'd like to see Ruger make a semi-auto in a caliber of .40 or larger which delivered a 350-450 grain bullet at around 2000 fps.

put me down for what has been mentioned; mid-sized 44 spl and 357 for vaqueros and blackhawks.

also 3 screw actions and flat-tops with micro sights and minus the warning paragraph. yes the new model is safer but other manufacturers still make orginal action saa's along with their other guns.

at the very least, they could make replacement parts for old model guns and also sell barrels and cylinders to the public.

Small frame 5 shot double action 44 Spl. Like the security-six. with a 3 1/2" bbl.

super black hawk in 454 Causwell or a 480

26" barrels on Magmas in the mod 77 I'll also second the adjustable triggers!

I like the idea of a custom shop.

Any body ever put 28 or 30" of barrel on a #1? In something like a 30-378 or a 7STW it would reach out. It would let these cartridges run up the velocity without being to long. Well you ask

A Ruger Mark II VT in 6.5mm 06.  THAT would be great.  They already make it in .25 06.  Or maybe even a .323 or 338 06 on the same.

If I could snap my fingers and have Ruger make anything I wanted, lets see....
1. I would like to see the 77 RSI chambered for:
    A) 7mm/08
    B) 6.5x55
    C) 358 Win
    D) 35 Rem
    E) 250 Savage
(and while I am wishing, I want the open sights left off.)

2. I would like to see the 1A chambered in 250 Savage.
3. 7.5" barrel on .357 vaqueros
4. A Vaquero chambered for .41 mag.
5. Chamber the Stainless 1B for .300 Weatherby. [/b]
When it comes time to shoot, SHOOT.  Don't talk.

I'd love to see a Blackhawk in 32/20. Maybe even a  Model 96 lever gun configuration in the same caliber. Even better, a .308 bore for the both of them.

A 1B in .....300 H&H Magnum
« Reply #81 on: October 21, 2003, 09:59:25 AM »
Yeah I know, short and fat is IN.

But those of you who have not owned or fired a .300 H&H are missing the boat. They do everything a .300 win mag will do w/o the sharp recoil. There is a serviceable Federal round -- 180 gr Partition-- in production for the non-handloaders. Handloaders can actually eclipse the Win Mag.

In a 1B we would have a compact, 26 inch barrel package of modest weight and great balance in a no-nonsense hunter's rifle with tradition galore behind it.. And, nobody else can make it! Ruger magic!

Ruger has to grab the brass ring on this before someone else beats them to it. If not, I may go ahead and have a shot-out 7mm mag rebarreled to .300 H&H on my own.

Then I'd start harrassing Ruger for a .257 WBY Mag in 1Bs....

Lawdog,

Nope, a handloader with a .300 H&H can only beat the factory 300 WinMag loads. While not a one-to-one comparison, the .300 H&H can do it, with less powder burned and less fealt recoil.

The cost and availability of .300 H&H facorty ammo almost forces one to reload, so most of us use handloads. (By omparison, the shelves bulge with .300 WinMag factoy load options...)

For the record, differences favor the .300 WinMag in a head to head handloading comparison. .300 WinMag velocity hovers around the +100fps mark for the 180 gr Partition loads I prefer in my 300 H&H.

I would like to see, a 40 S&W that uses the same design as the P89 / P90. Also a 77MKIIVT based on the 243WSSM. Also a 77MKII laminated/ss in 7mm08 with a 22" barrel.

I'd like to see the #3 in  .30/30,.30/06etc with a longer barrel than the original model and a finger loop lever, no barrel band and tapped for a rear tang sight. I'd like to see that finger lever offered as an aftermarket item.

Well, I'd be happy if Ruger would just make the barrels on the WSM's and RSUM's they offer in a 24" instead of a 22". I might buy one then.
