Another Clean Shot !!

A CLEAN MISS!!
Yep, as Maxwell Smart(some will remember him) said, "Missed it by THAT MUCH".  Take your pick, old eyes, bi-focals or maybe I just got excited...I shot high and she was gone and took her sister with her.  A nice doe at 50yds.  Oh well, I will try again tomorrow morning.  Hunting a new area, 320 acres was added, this year, to an area I have hunted for the last 3 years.  Lots of deer and the potential for longer shots.  Sure am glad I have the 12ga Tracker I this year.  It shoots better than I do, but it was still good to get into the woods.

I've missed a few of 'em too.
I guess that's part of the thrill.

What slugs are you using Cookie??
I'm shooting real good groups with cheapo Rem. Sluggers out of my 12 and 20 gauge smoothbores.

Remington Sluggers for me, too Spanky. I got a bunch of em last year, on sale in the 15 pks.
I did everything right, except for the part about killin' the deer.

Good luck next time Cookie, we all know the feeling. I missed a nice 8 pointer last season at 25 yards with my bow.

My 20 gauge Pardner shoots 4 inch groups at 50 yards with the bead sight using cheapo Remington Sluggers. I use it for my bad weather gun.

Only one I ever missed one.I shot at twice with my smoothbore 870 with a saddle mount and 4x scope. I went back and shot a nice tight group on a target. 18" HIGH!! It was a big 8 point. I junked the saddle mount and have been using my topper deluxe slug gun ever since.

NOPE....I was out nearly all day and didn't even see one.  Will try again in the morning.  Put a splash of flourescent green on the front sight yesterday.  Shows up real nice, now.  Supposed to get cold tonight, maybe I won't have to trudge through so much mud in the morning. ;D  Got till the 30th, hopefully will get some week days in after work.  I sure hope the one I missed will not be the only one I see.

I hunted for about 6 or 7 years, back in the 80's and then quit and started up again in 2005.  Of all those years, this year is only the second time I have ever had a deer in my sights.  The first time I harvested a deer was 2yrs ago.  Just seeing anything is big thing for me...missing the shot, well, that's part of it too.  I still have 2 wks left to hunt, so I am optomistic.  But, unfilled tags is not something that's new to me.  :-\
